I bailed on Conseco several months ago due to the RipOff Reports. Conseco was beginning to act like they were going to "go rogue" and apparently they did! (Thanks ROR!) First, call and ask for an amortization schedule of your loan. That will get you very close to the payoff. Then, start your refi with the figures you have. Immediately before you fill in the final figures on your new contract, call again for a current payoff; you may get it that time. My uneasiness with Conseco began when I called to see about lowering our interest rate. I was given various odd reasons why it couldn't be done. Depending on the Rep I got on the phone, I got everything from courteous service to outright hostility. Finally got an honest person who told me that there was no more refi dept (Warning, danger, danger) Try calling another day or later in the day. Try for a different Rep. In all honesty, I had no problem with Conseco, other than some of the Reps, who must have received a world-class a$$-chewing immediately before my call. (Some actually acted offended that I was trying to refi elsewhere, like they took it personally.) I received the amortization schedule right away and after I got my new loan, I received a refund for the interest that did not get used for that period. That was before Conseco's "trip to the auction block". Things must be deteriorating rapidly. Good luck to you!
