Consumer Auto Rewards Hacked CC Number & Subscribed Membership W/O Authorization, Unauthorized Bank Charges Tampa Florida
I received a telephone call from Consumer Auto Rewards asking me to join. I refused the offer.
Two days later, there was a charge on my bank account from them. Two days after that, I received the "free 7 day trial membership" along with all the pertinent information.
I attempted to call the telephone number provided, but could never get anyone to answer - for 8 days. During this time, I also attempted to contact them via the website. Two of the three e-mail addresses provided were false.
No one has ever replied to my e-mail that did go through with the apparent "good" e-mail. When the free trial period was up, they charged my bank account not once, but twice.
After this, I was finally able to get someone on the telephone who stated that I did agree to this service and that she had me "on tape". When asked how she obtained my cc number, she stated that she obtained it from an offer I had completed online through a third party.
Thus far, even though I have cancelled the membership, I have yet to have the charges reversed.
