Absolutely! Call customer service at (888) 244-0925. Just let the customer service representative know that you need to cancel your warranty. Explain to them what happened. They may be able to help you further-- that I'm not sure of but they will do the best of whatever they can do for you.

You are correct sir. "Marathon Financial" (as listed on the Retail Installment Contract - Agreement Number 835-085063, dated 7/9/2004) is listed as the "Administrator" (or as you referred to above as the "Insurer" on the Retail Installment Contract. Payments where then made to Mepco Insurance Premium Financing Inc. (MEPCO) starting on 8/14/2004 with the last payment made on 8/14/2005. The Vehicle Service Contract Declaration Sheet (Form: A BC-1066AO, FPP [Rev. 09/02]) is "administered" by Royal Administration Services, Hanover, MA and "marketed" by Continental Warranty / MCG Enterprises, Inc., Malibu CA. Since the contract was "Voided" by Royal Administration Services prior to the contract expiration date of 7/9/2008, and due to the fact that there was no intent to defraud or deceive on my part Continental Warranty simply because this was a "total failure" of the mileage computer and electronic instrument cluster on 11 August 2006 and the fact that I followed the "rules of engagement" for filing a claim. Is Continental Warranty willing to prorate the warranty and reimburse me the twenty-seven (27) months that still would be left on my contract had not a major failure of my mileage computer occurred ?? This, I believe, would be the least Continental Warranty could do to "promote" customer satisfaction under this given and unique situation.

There are many things that could go wrong with your mileage display, whether it be a complete failure or a simple LED problem. However, if the mileage computer fails COMPLETELY and cannot be read, whether it be through a diagnostics or direct link to the mileage computer, like it says in the contract, this warranty will be voided. And while we understand that you have your mileage documented from a few months before, your documentation does not provide an accurate measure of the vehicle's current mileage. Therefor, the warranty must be voided. The warranty that you purchased was insured by an insurance company called Marathon Insurance. Continental Warranty no longer sells Marathon plans nor have we for about six months. We do, however, fully support our customers who purchased Marathon plans in the past. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call customer service.

Your warranty friends are simply using an excuse to weasel out. Any judge would agree that the recent history shows that the milage MUST be less than 80,000 miles at this time. I doubt the reason for denial of coverage based on the interpretation of the terms and conditions would be deemed valid. If it is, then everyone should avoid extended warranties. But see (2) below. I bet you paid a lot for your warranty. Maybe some morals to your tale of woe: 1. Never buy a Jaguar. Ever. They have poor reliability. Jaguars always have had poor reliability, and probably always will. 1.1 If you can't pay, don't play. 2. If you buy only cars [and trucks] that have high reliability [see Consumer Reports] you will not need an extended warranty. 3. If you DO need an extended warranty, it proves the vehicle in question is junk and you should not buy it in the first place. Unless you should happen enjoy your present situation.

Update for those who need to know. My plan booklet is titled "Freedom Plus Plan Coverage". Royal Administration Services, Inc. out of Hanover, MA sent me a letter, dated 8 Sept 06, with the following: (Quote) We have received the contract you purchased through Continental Warranty on July 9, 2004 for your 2000 Jaguar XJ8. We regret to inform you that we are voiding this contract because, as stated on the Freedom contract, "Vehicles with True Mileage Unknown (TMU)." are not eligible for warranty coverage. Please be advised that your vehicle is not covered under any Freedom program. Please contact Continental Warranty with any questions you may have. Sincerely, Accounts Receivable Department (End Quote) Again, I need to stress the fact that on page 7 of the booklet, (FPP, Rev 11/03), Paragraph 8, "Hi-Tech Electrical" clearly states "mileage computer".
