CoolAir Conditioning They "did me a favor" for the lousey repair work Ft. Myers Florida
I called for repair on my a/c unit on Monday 4/27/09. The fan motor had gone bad. I was met by very friendly gentlemen who gave me my options for repair or replacement. On Tuesday, 4/28/09, I decided I had to repair due to the cost of a new unit, I was told they would replace the fan motor and electrical connections for $375.00 as soon as possible because it was 90 degrees outside and I had a 4 month old baby in the house. I received a call later that afternoon trying to sell me a "used" unit. I declined and from there..so did their friendliness and service.
They then told me they couldn't get to it that day, they were short handed but the repair would be done "first thing" Wednesday morning. At 12:30pm wednesday I called to find out where the repair man was. They said they would locate him. He showed up about 1:30pm. I received a call from my daughter at 2:00pm asking what to do because he wanted an additional $80.00 because my fan blade was broken. I immediately called the company, the fan blade was not broken before this repair. He left without the additional charge. When I returned home and inspected the repair, I was quite upset at what I saw. The bolts for the motor were sticking up out of the top and being held on by thin nuts that are too small for the holes making the motor and bolts lop-sided. I called the company again, they sent a technician out who told me that yes, the motor was unstable and he would let them know first thing in the morning.
This is where the fun begins. I called the company at 8:00am and left a message for Scott Check to call me back and explained the problem. I called again at 10:15am and left another message for him to call me back, again explaining the problem and urgency because I was not happy being ripped off. At 11:20am I received a call from Ben Eggleston. I explained why I was upset, poor quality of work, the bolts, not replacing the electrical connector, etc. Told him the technician agreed that the motor was unstable and verified that no electrical connections were replaced. He said that normally they would cut the bolts and had already talked to Randy the repair man to tell him that is not how they conduct business. We also discussed my "broken fan blade" which he stated that he couldn't wait to give that back to me. He offered to give me all my money back with all my old parts, which included my now broken fan blade. I was told a repair man would be out to my house that afternoon. He was not a very nice person to deal with. I told him that was not acceptable, they needed to fix the problem. From his conversation and attitude, I filed a complaint with the BBB.
I was told a repair man would be out to my house that afternoon. At 4:30pm Ben Eggleston showed up at my house. I showed him the crooked bolts. He stood there for a moment and then said he didn't really see a problem, he told me that the repair man last night never said the motor was unstable and they did me a favor by trying to repair such an old unit. He showed me the fan blade but wouldn't give it to me, and basically called me a liar.
Ben Eggleston then called my house, starting with "Don't hang up" and saying that he didn't like the way things were left between us. I told him I did not like dealing with him and wanted to speak to someone else, I don't like being called a liar and I don't like being lied to. We discussed the fan blade again, and as he puts it "anyone who would have taken that off would have broken it" but still not admiting they broke it. I asked to speak to one of the owners and was told "that was not going to happen". I told him I'm not dealing with him anymore, he is the reason I filed a complaint with the BBB and to have Scott Check call me. He said he would have hom call me first thing in the morning. Let's see.
