Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
After 5 years of service, Cox Communications screwed up my husband's cable and internet account and accused us of owing them another $1,000 after we paid our bill AND returned the equipment. It took more than an hour for my husband to get things straightened out with them because they didn't want to get a manager for him to speak with.

I had our cable service turned on under my name and they were too incompetent to even bother sending my bill for the first 3 months!

About two weeks ago, Sunday to be exact, they disconnected my cable without warning. When I first phoned thinking it was a technical problem, the automated recording didn't even recognize my phone number. When I spoke with a technical assistant, he couldn't even find my name, phone number or address in the system! He was supposed to call back but when he failed to do so 4 hours later, I phoned Cox again and this time I was informed that my service was disconnected because of none payment. I pointed out that a PROFESSIONAL service would have warned me BEFOREHAND by phone or letter. The person CLAIMED that they had sent a letter and when I pointed out the fact that if they had honestly sent a letter to me, I would have gotten it AND the freakin' bills! All the person could say to that was he wasn't in the billing department. I got the name and phone number of the employee's supervisor and spoke with them the following day along with making a complaint to their headquarters in Atlanta. The person that phoned me on Monday, said that I owed $61.00 and claimed that they would waive the reconnection fee yet, they wanted to charge me an additional $33 to get reconnected. If they were waiving the reconnection fee, they wouldn't expect me to pay $95 instead of $61.00. Then some mangy pig named Eva phoned me the other day (Tuesday) and had the audacity to say that it's my responsibility to pay my bill! I told the idiot that it's only my responsibility to pay my bill when they SEND it to me! If I haven't been getting a freakin' bill, I have no idea what I owe!!!! I further informed her that it's HER responsibility to put the CORRECT name on my bill to make sure I'll get it! It's not my duty to complain to the post office over the negligence of employees at Cox!

I can see why so many people are ditching Cox Communications for satallite instead!!!!

Cable is NOT a utility. Also, if you don't get a credit card bill do you not pay it just because no bill was sent? No!! You be adult and pay your bills.....please grow up.

"They did the samething to me didn't receive a bill for 3 months then got a disconnect notice. Now see those of us usually don't have time to call someone as little as cox because most of us have lives jobs and kids." But you apparently had time to watch TV free for 3 months. Seriously, what did you think was going to happen when they didn't get paid? Most of the time it's something stupid like a mistyped address. Do you expect them to keep your services going indefinitely even though they haven't received payment? Get real. If you don't get bill, you should know that something is wrong and you need to call and find out. This applies to all companies that provide you services, not just Cox.

Ok to you idiots who keep saying pay you bill or cox does send bills out. They did the samething to me didn't receive a bill for 3 months then got a disconnect notice. Now see those of us usually don't have time to call someone as little as cox because most of us have lives jobs and kids. Now to the ex cox employee get off this thread you know nothing they provided you with free internet, phone and cable I know I have friends that work for the company. Now I they just turned my internet off today with out any type of warning at all no bill no disconnect notice. THEY ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO SEND YOU A BILL FOR YOUR PHONE IT IS CONSIDERED A UTILITY!!!! You can't pay a company with out a bill it's considered a invoice usually works to know what you owe etc. I get a bill monthly I pay it I didn't get a bill obviously I didn't pay it. They are required to give some sort of disconnect notice for utility services and bills. Write the FTC and BBB about it that's what I'm doing maybe if they get enough complaints they will start a investigation in to Cox Cables billing practices.

You didn't get a bill for 3 months? Did it not ever cross your mind to call Cox and question why you have not been billed? Common sense would tell you that if you have not received a bill for 3 months you might want to find out why. When my wife and I moved 3 years ago we did not get a phone bill in the first month and a half we lived there. I used common sense and called them to see where my bill was and my billing address was wrong. I am sorry to me they were wrong not sending you a bill but you were stupid in not calling them. You have to take some of the blame. You said a professional service would have warned you before disconnecting the service but a smart (opposite of stupid) customer would have called them before the disconnection.

So ANY creditor can decide you owe them money, NOT send you an invoice or a statement AND expect that you will pay? I'll let my clients know that from now on I will no longer bother with those trivial little invoices and will expect them to just hand me a blank check so I can fill in the amount I think they owe me...and then when I show up in court to collect on that phantom debt I will expect the judge and jury to believe me with no evidence that my clients were ever notified.

In addition....Receiving a bill in the mail from ANY creditor is simply a courtesy

Receiving a bill in the mail from ANY creditor is simply a courtesy. They are NOT required to send you a bill. But you are required to pay them every single month. When you didn't get a bill (as you claim), you should have let your fingers to the walking to make a call to them, or send in whatever amount you agreed to in the beginning.

#11UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wed, June 22, 2005

Hello, First let me point out that Cox Communications does not just disconnect customers service with out notice. Cox Gives each customer 90 days to pay ther bills before they disconnet service. Also 30 day before they disconnect a customer service they shut off Access to digital cable but leave the analog cable running. So saying you got no notice is bull. Also if you sign up for service with a company it is you that is that needs to make sure you are getting your bills and paying them not cox or any company. They provided there services to you for 90 days what did you think it would just keep going on forever and you would never have to pay. Come on You sound like the type that just complains to hear themselfs complain. PAY YOU BILLS and your serive would not have been turned off.
