CPS, Consumer Portfolio Services, Loan Servicing Center, Mercury Finance Implementing scare tactics, misrepresentation of identy,harrassment, threatening phone calls, Nationwide
MY HUSBAND WAS TOLD BY A DOOGIE HOUSER-LIKE INDIVIDUAL CLAIMING HE WAS AN INVESTIGATIVE DETECTIVE, TO SURRENDER HIS VEHICLE OR HE WOULD BE CHARGED WITH A FELONY & ARRESTED. THE REPO BOY WAS ASKED NICELY TO LEAVE & WE WERE VOICING OUR OPPOSITION TO THIS RECOVERY ACTION, DUE TO DISAGREEMENT OF THE TOTAL CPS WAS CLAIMING WE OWED. WE WERE HANDED SOME 2ND GRADE VERSION OF A FINAL NOTICE LETTER STATING CONCEALMENT LAWS THAT DO NOT EXIST,WITH A NUMBER TO CONTACT.
I WAS SUSPICIOUS OF THIS NUMBER BECAUSE IT WAS VERY SIMILAR TO AN 866 NUMBER LINKED TO CPS. I GOOGLED THIS NUMBER TO FIND IT WAS LINKED TO COLLECTION AGENCY #'S THAT WERE KNOWN FOR DECEPTIVE PRACTICES. 20 MIN. LATER, WE GET A CALL, THE PERSON STATES HE IS FROM A TASK FORCE, & WAS JUST INFORMED BY A REP FROM CPS THAT WE TOLD CPS WE WOULD REPORT OUR CAR STOLEN TO COLLECT INSURANCE MONEY. WHICH IS FUNNY, LIABILITY DOESNT COVER THEFT. WOULDNT THE LEINHOLDER GET MONEY FROM ANY SECURITY INTEREST THEY MIGHT HAVE ANYWAY?
SO WE THREATENED TO SUE & THAT ENDED THAT CALL. I THEN CALLED CPS TO DISPUTE CHARGES DUE, AND THEY WERE UNWILLING TO ACCEPT ANY ARRANGEMENT, TOLD ME TO HAVE CAR IN DRIVEWAY @ 7PM. I STARTED QUESTIONING HER ON THE SIMILAR NUMBER, THE TASK FORCE,WHICH BY THE WAY CALLED FROM A 312 CHICAGO AREA CODE, THE IMPLICATION OF THEIR REPS CLAIMING THIS SO CALLED "TASK FORCE" WAS A GOVERNMENT AGENCY, ANSWERING THEIR PHONES AS "PROSECUTOR" OR "DETECTIVE".
I WAS PUT ON HOLD FOR AT LEAST 15MIN, AND WAS TOLD TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY, OR THEY WILL TAKE THE CAR. PHONE RINGS, & ITS REPO BOY,& HE TOLD ME HE COULD COME ON MY PROPERTY AS MANY TIMES AS HE WANTED, HE WAS GETTING THE CAR, & HE WOULD MAKE SURE WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET IT BACK. CALL ME CRAZY, BUT IM NOT SURE THESE WEASELS KNOW WHAT THE FAIR DEBT COLLECTING PRACTICES ACT IS, BECAUSE JUST SEC.807 ALONE WHICH IS FALSE AND MISLESDING TACTICS, THEY VIOLATED 15 OUT OF THE 16.
THERES ALSO POSSIBLE VIOLATIONS WITH THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION REGARDING BLOCKING AND SPOOFING WRONG INFORMATION TO YOUR CALLER ID, AND THE SLANDER COMITTED AGAINST US ACCUSING US OF GRAND THEFT. CLASS ACTION PEOPLE, WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO US IS ILLEGAL, WE HAVE RIGHTS. UNTIL TODAY, I WAS UNAWARE OF MY RIGHTS. I AM SHOCKED AT HOW LITTLE I KNEW, BUT I DESERVE FAIR TREATMENT, BASIC HUMANITY IS TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR THESE DAYS. DO SOME SEARCHING OF CPS COMPLAINTS...YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Have any of you ever considered just paying your bill when it's due so you didn't have to deal with any B.S from the company or repo's or collection calls?
I mean even the most reputable company in the world that means well is going to call you for their money if you haven't paid on time. That doesn't make a company crooked.
I don't work for this company or nothing but I've got my auto loan with them and I haven't experienced any of these issues but I also make my payments a week before they are due so I assume that is why I haven't felt their wrath.. Your storys are pretty good reasons for me to never be late though.

I'm not sure how filing a complaint with your states fair debt collection act will change things with this company but I've done just that. Their tactics are horrible and beyond disrespectful. They call people and harrass them, they harrass you at work, they have got to be stopped!! Hopefully we can all get together and file so many complaints that this will be picked up by someone and a class action lawsuit will be filed. It has happened before with another finance company I was with, I didnt even know about it until I received a notice in the mail. Let's get together and make this happen or continue to receive the ignorant demeaning phone calls..

Everyone who was ever affected by this company should get together and file a class-action suit. The idea about paying them $25 per month; I love it. Sometimes justice does prevail for the little man. Good for you! I hope I can prevail in my dispute with them, too.

CPS people are scumbags.....they will repo your car and sell it at auction, then of course bill you the difference.......had it happen to me, they billed me, I sent them $25 a month, they cashed the check 6 months in a row, then decided to take me to court.........I showed the judge the cancelled checks, that they had started a chain of accepting the payment by cashing the checks.....judge admonished the local counsel, and that was it! End of story.........now they get their $25 a month, and they set on their butts in California and fume........
