Our lease started Feb of 2007 with our duplex 2 bedroom 1 bath apartment from Craig & Eileen Isakson. Everything seemed to be fine for the first couple of months. First Craig broke into the apartment and stole our ADT security system and said he was putting it in another apartment that he owned. We called ADT and they said that was illegal and replaced our alarm free of charge. Then we started noticing small things going wrong with the apartment which was expected (mostly plumbing). We reported the issues with Craig & Eileen. We were told they would be fixed. Well, they never were. Issues started adding up. We found the toilet seal was busted, the inside of the toilet was broke (we had to use a string to flush the toilet), our bathtub was leaking from under the tub, kitchen sink was leaking from the pipes, floors were caving in under the cabinets, our main support beam that holds the house snapped in half, basement would flood everytime it rained and rodents (mice) moved in. We reported the issues and nothing was ever done about them. Our neighbors in the same building were coming and going and one set of new tenants brought roaches to the apartment. We told Craig & Eileen about the roaches and other issues atleast once a week for 2 months. Craig brought over some bug spray that looked like it only cost him a $1. It was cheap and didnt work. Then he brought over some foggers that didnt work. We told him he needed to call an exterminator and get the issue fixed or else we were calling the health department. They didnt listen. We eventually called the health department. The health department came to our apartment a month before our lease expired and gave Craig & Eileen Multiple violations. Now before the health department we told Craig & Eileen that we were going to stay an extra month after our lease was up so we could find a place to live. We have 2 kids so its kinda hard to find a big enough place. Craig said that was fine.

Well once he got the phone call from the health department that all changed. He came over and demanded our rent from us. Once the rent was in his hands he said "Oh yeah, since you called the health department on us, you have to be out the day your lease expires." That is only 2 weeks away. He told us "If you wouldnt of called on us, you would of been able to stay for as long as you liked without signing a lease but you went and f***ed that up." These people dont care about anyone except there selves. They dont care if they put a family with 2 children 2 years old and 4 years old out on the streets in the winter. They openly admitted to being slum lords and said it was our fault for trusting them. Craig had also mentioned to us a few months ago that he had to kick one of his other tennants out and he went to there apartment, threw there stuff to the curb and waited there with a gun for them to come home. He said that he didnt file eviction or anything, he just decided to toss them out because they were 5 days late on rent. He brags about this stuff to try to scare us but it doesnt work. We know our rights and we know the laws. The only time they return your phone calls is when rent is due. He also mentioned he doesnt have to give us back our deposit. State law requires that the deposit is sent to us within 45 days of lease end date as long as there isn't damage to the apartment that isn't normal wear and tear. We had our lawyer do a walk through on the apartment along with the health department for the second time and none of the damages are caused by us. They are caused by cheap fixes to the plumbing and neglagent building maintenence. Now we are waiting for the final walk through with Craig & Eileen. I know they are going to try to pull something so I will keep this updated.

Bottom Line: Do not rent from Craig & Eileen Isakson in Rockford, Illinois.

Completing my rebuttal: LANDLORDS BEWARE DO NOT RENT TO NICOLE OR RON. Wanting to address the false coach roaches statement. Yes we had a tenant bring in cockroaches and we ERADICATED the cockroaches with not one and not two but three chemicals, and we have the paid receipts for THREE chemicals for anyone concerned about this case to view. Funny story is when Ron and Nicole moved out we found a whole unopened bottle of the the checmical, so I guess what we did to ERADICATE the cockroaches worked huh. There is not one cockroach in any 14 of my units and I have good paying tenants who will testify to this for anyone interested in this case to talk to.

First let me say nothing was ever fine with Nicole and Ron renting from us. Second most important thing I have to say is this is a case of a disillusioned tenant and let me explain. Ron was never on the lease but, Ron is the writer of this report. Nicole our actual tenant was always late on her rent and I have documents to prove this to anyone concerned with this case. We chose NOT to re-new their lease after one year based on the fact that Nicole could never seem to pay her rent on time and had an excuse month after month. Ron who file this report as I stated was not even on the lease he was a roommate according to our tenant on the lease Nicole. Ron has been in and out of jail from what his wife Nicole told us. He was even in jail during part of our tenant Nicole's rental period. Criminal records are public record so anyone concerned can go to the Winnebago couty court houses website and input Ron name. The ADT system we owned NOT Nicole and NOT Ron it was our property and we moved that system to another rental building where it was needed. The kitchen cabinet uner the sink was new before they moved in. Nicole called us after she let the pipes leak for months BECAUSE SHE WAS PAST DUE ON HER RENT AND DID NOT TO CALL, she did not even put a bucket under there to catch the water. My wife arrived to see this distruction they caused & let her know that the kitchen cabinet was new when she moved in and asked Nicole why she did not put a bucket under there? Only a bad tenant would not call or put a bucket under there. I have receipts to prove this wood was purchased before she moved in & that I paid a carpenter to install it. I had to laugh when I read the claimes about the main beam caving in and all the other issues because the health department that Ron and Nicole called gave me 2 minor violation and that was a few screens needed to be repaired and one light switch cover that the TENANTS took off needed to be replace. This is all public record and can be found at the Winnebago health department. I was reinspected within a few days and I would not have passed inspection if a MAIN BEAM was caving in. The health department understood why they were called, Nicole and Ron were upset because they had to move due to the fact I was not renewing Nicole's lease and that's the only reason they picked up the phone & called the health department. I have my records to prove my minor violations and I also have my approval letter stating everything is up to code at my duplex. The health department seen right through Nicole and Ron & soon realized this was a disillusioned couple trying to grab at straws and make as many problems as they could for their landlord before they had to move out. The law states that a lease can be non renewable after the year is up and we chose not to renew this lease due to Nicole being late on her rent numerous times throughout the year. Also about their security deposit they took it upon themselves to take out a window to put in an window A/C unit and that broke the main window support because they did it wrong so, after three window companies deemed it unrepairable we took that dollar amount out of their security deposit. I have the receipts & estimates to prove the window was not repairable. They are slobs who left the place a pig stye too. There children drew on my freshly painted walls & Nicole and Ron tried to re-paint but they did not use the proper paint for the job and it all needed to repainted so the drawings would be covered. I always rent my 14 units freshly painted and cleaned. There was also lot of verbal abuse from these tenants Nicole and Ron, LANDLORDS BE AWARE & TAKE NOTE. To this day they never have paid for any of their damages to this property so don't let them get too far behind on their rent, you'll never see it because they will just pick up and go and rip off another unsuspecting landlord.
