Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I left my boat with crawford boat works out of Molalla oregon for a repaint job. The contract stated two week turnaround on the work. I also gave them a cash deposit of half down to start the work. After 38 days of frustration and countless emails I returned to there site to check on my boat. No work had been performed on it at all, NONE. So I hooked up my classic 59 and took it  home. Lost my cash deposit as well. Lots of time and money lost on this project. The business operates off craigslist in Portland oregon. Beware of these guys, I was lucky to recover my 59 from them. Buyer Beware.....

In response to Joe Crawfords rebuttle of my claim that he had my boat at his shop for a full 38 days, July 17 to august  15. Time at the shop is documented. I left a good faith deposit with the crook of 250 dollars to ensure the work would at least begin. After countless emails and upgradeing the work to the scope they still did not perform any work what so ever on my classic 1959 Buehler turbocraft in excellent condtion. He stated they would have to remove the masking tape and what not before it would be ready.

When I checked on the boat it had not been touched by his shop. Lie after lie so I picked it up , still no refund on my deposit. I will be taking this company to court. He never said he was sick or anything along those lines. The boat is a 16 foot, 54 year old boat. And I wrote on the contract and stated at the time of drop off that two weeks is when I want it back. He agreed to this and its documented. Do not do business with Crawford boat works, they suck.

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

The owner of the boat left the boat with us for work. He paid a deposit and left the boat with no required finish date listed. Per our policy his job was put in line with the other projects. We are a small company,v with a limited number of employees. I became sick, and we were slowed down in our work. He was made aware of this, and chose to leave his boat with us. We had the boat for barely over a month when he chose to pick his boat up. In less than 12 hour he began a campain of slandering us on the internet giving us no chance to refund his deposit.

Our company policy is that deposits on custom repairs are not refundable due to the materials cost we incur. In this case the paint he chose. We did however agree to refund his deposit. He was advised he would have to come out and pick it up, which he chose not to do. We are a Coast guard, and marine board registered company. Had he left the boat with us he would have been very happy with the job. In conclusion a month is not an unreasonabloe amount of time to wait for a full repaint of an 18 foot boat that is over 40 years old, and in very poor condition.
