to call CAC ruthless is a bit of a stretch, though I am sure you might not see it that way. I have been in finance now for almost 15 years: with two national banks and now with CAC. Every single person, without exception, that I work with at CAC has shown themselves to be compassionate professionals, but they can only do so much. While your story is heartbreaking, it is no more so that the other stories heard at finance companies around the country. Finance companies would all be out of business by the end of the week if they forgave every single debtor that called with a sad story like yours. Another sad story would be for CAC and the other finance companies telling their employees that no one has a job there because they let all those unfortunate people forego payments that the had said they would make. How is you failing to pay the finance company THEIR fault? What if you worked for CAC or a competitor? Whould you be willing to give up your job because some people planned poorly? (Did the IRS draw your name out of a hat, or have you made other poor financial decisions?) I am sorry for you and hope things turn around, but I will not give up my job because you had a run of bad luck (really bad luck) or because you are unable or unwilling to handle your financial obligations: obligations that YOU signed up for. Remember: CAC did not seek you out: you went looking for them. I hope things get better for you, and as a neighbor, I will gladly help any way I can. But, as a financial professional, I will not give up my job and send my company down the tubes because of your inability to meet your obligations.

Try to blame me for what my husband turned out to be. I had no clue when I married him what was going to happen.

No I am not MISSING the point. I think you missed the point I was trying to make. Your first comment was very judgemental. Things happed to people that they have no control over. Absolutely none. You obviously haven't had any of those thing happen to you. I stayed in contact with Credit acceptance. Tried to explain what had happened. You are right no one made me marry anyone. No one made me buy a car. But when the IRS took ALL my money, I still had bills to pay and no money with which to do it. Try and pay all your bills and stay current when all of your money has been seized. It is not easy let me tell you. I am NOT making excuses for myself or anyone else but you need to realized sometimes things happen beyond your control. If it were not for the IRS seizing my money, I would not have had any trouble at all. And another point I made was Credit Acceptance turned my car off when my loan was current and up to date for absolutely no reason. Like I said you cannot judge anyone until you walk in their shoes. Have you read some of the horror stories about credit acceptance on this webpage? Read them. This is a predatory lending company and I have written to the Attorney General of Michigan about them. They should not be allowed to do some of the things they have done and I am not talking about how they treated me either.

You still are missing the point. Credit Acceptance loaned you money to buy the car when no one else would. The interruption device was probably installed to make sure that they were paid back on time. They did not tell you who to marry and who to divorce. You applied for a car loan and they loaned you the money. They have the right to get repaid as agreed on the loan contract. No one forced you to buy that car and no one forced you to sign the contract. Think back to the day you purchased the vehicle. You were probably very thankful to be driving off in that vehicle. Now that things are not going your way, you blame the ones who loaned you the money to buy the car, whom had no control over your life and the situations that you are in. They simply made you a loan to buy a car.

Just because a person has bad credit DOES NOT mean they are deadbeats. I was married to a very rich man who was abusive and fooled around on me. When I left he told me he was going to ruin me. He certainly tried. When I walked out of court the day of my divorce, my lawyer looked at me and said "You got screwed". I even lost my car. The IRS fees stem back to this. I have worked very hard ever since to get my life back together. Did you happen to read the part where they just turned my car off for no reason? Now you will probably said I must have bee a bad wife. No my ex begged me not to leave, told me he didn't want to lose me but after all he had put me through, I had to go. Now just understand there is usually more to the story than what you know, until you walk in someone's shoes, you have no right to judge.

Credit Acceptance makes high risk car loans. If your credit was good, you would probably dealing with a bank with better rates and more flexible terms. Is it the bank's fault that you did not pay your income taxes? They lent you money to buy a car when you needed it and you did not pay it as agreed. You are an adult, take responsibility for your own actions. The interest rate is determined on the amount of risk associated with the car loan. If you put more money down, I am sure you would have had a lower interest rate and probably would have been able to buy a car without an interruption device. Evidently, the lender probably thought that you were such a high risk that if the interruption device was not installed on the vehicle, they probably would never get paid and would be unable to find their collateral. If it were not for Credit Acceptance, you probably would NOT qualify for ANY car loan, with tax liens.
