Credit Acceptance Corporation is the biggest joke I've dealt with in many years.  They are seemingly the only company that will finance anyone with poor credit for any reason, yet they rip-off the same people who are trying to rebuild their credit.  The company couldn't even start the automatic payments correctly.  My first 3 payments would not go through because the payments were scheduled to come out of MY checking account that had MY name on it yet they insisted on running the payment through with my husband's name ONLY.  The bank wouldn't process the payment.  It took WEEKS to straighten this problem out.  THEN they take the payment out whenever they feel like it, NOT on the payment schedule so the bank had problems with that as well.  Although we were scheduled to make 2 payments per month (and they were automatic) CAC always considered us late.  Time and again we were forced to send another payment through Western Union to stay up to date.  They would not send us a statement through the mail, nor could we get a payment booklet so that we could send checks. 

Each time we called the company we received a different answer from a different employee; the amount due was NEVER the same...and a few times we would both call the company within 30 minutes of each other just to see what answer we would receive.  I also found it ironic that my checking account had never had problems prior to setting up the automatic payments with CAC.  I eventually had to close my account due to multiple incidents of fraudulent charges.  At that point we just started sending payments via check through the mail; they would receive the checks but they did not clear our bank for up to 10 days, and of course it was OUR FAULT that the payment was late.  The company calls us constantly.  They have multiple phone numbers from different area codes so they think they are being sneaky.  We have repeatedly asked them not to call us during the day while at work so that we won't get fired from our jobs.  They say 'ok' and uphold it for about a week and start harassing us again.  This company is no better than a loan shark for car loans.  They prey on those who are trying to repair credit or who have no credit and then the problems that you encounter with them send your credit down the toilet altogether.
