This is a collection agency for Liberty Mutual. When I switched to Geico because they were over $500 a year cheaper, I was sent a bill from Liberty Mutual with a notation that if it was not paid immedietly it would be sent to collection. The bill was for an amount higher than the amount to keep the policy in effect.  I call Liberty Mutual and got a girl who could not explain the bill at all and said "it's very complicated".

Credit Collection Services got involved and one of their helpful reps told me that the insurance was not properly cancelled and that if I had Geico fax the declaration page to them most of the charges would go away. Geico faxed it to them and the next month I got a bill from CCS for the same amount. I called and asked why the amount wasn't reduced and the said the policy was cancelled correctly and that the first rep was wrong. I was now told it was due to an early cancellation charge contained in the policy. I asked if they could send the policy so I could read that clause and was told they would send it out within a week. They never sent the policy so I contacted Liberty Mutual and the policy didn't have an early cancellation clause. I was told three more reasons by CCS before I got someone a Liberty Mutual to send me a breakdown of the charges.

CCS was apparently given this file without knowing what the bill was for and they just made a stories in order to collect. Since I had been with Liberty Mutual for over twenty years, I wasn't paying anything until I understood what I was being charged for. One of the charges contained in the bill was $36.42 to pay the bill over the phone.

At any rate the actions of CCS delayed payment of the legitimate portion of this debt by 361 days. Nice work CCS!

When I cancelled my homeowners insurance with Liberty Mutual in 2008, they sent my refund to the State of New Jersey Division of Unclaimed Property, despite still having my car policy and being informed of my new address, so a big gold star for Liberty Mutual too.

If contacted by this company do not deal with the lying phone reps- talk to a supervisor.
