I was contacted by this company on Thursday, October 1 about a payment on a student loan. It turned out that my monthly statement had been misplaced and the payment was about a week late. I acknowledged this fact and asked for an address to which I could send the payment. The person at the other end of the call launched into a tirade, calling me "delinquent", threatening to destroy my good credit rating. He put me in touch with a representative from Wachovia (the loan company), and continued to interrupt with abusive language as the woman from Wachovia was attempting to give me the address to send the payment to.
The following morning, I sent the payment to the address given to me. However, although my account is now current, I continue to be subjected to daily calls on this subject from rude and abusive callers. I sent a cease-and-desist letter by certified mail with return receipt, but CCS has continued to call my home, at times after 9:00PM, in violation of the law.
I intend to file a complaint with the FTC, and with the US Attorney's offices in NJ and MA against this crooked company.
