I am a recently widowed female who thought cricket mobile phone services would be perfect for me becase of the unlimited local calls. I had my services turned on Sept. 12, 2002. I payed $107.89 for phone charger and first mths services.

I specificly told customer service when i called to have my services turned on I needed my billing cycle to be due around the 25th of each month the customer rep. said no problem. Only to go and try to use my phone Oct 15 and it was shut off It called Cricket and I couldn't even talk to a rep it kept giving me automated services & then it would say Were sorry all our cust.

serv reps are busy at this time.I had to call from my friends phone finally got thru only to be told that my request for my billing was never reqested and that not only would they not turn my phone back on until i payed the 51.08 but I also had to pay a 15.00 reconnect fee.

by the time i got off the phone iwas in tears hear I've payed 107.89 for aphone and 1mths service now i have no phone services and owe 66.00befor they'll turn my services back on. I get payed the 2nd and 4 thursday of every mnth.Iam on a very tight budget sense my husband past and I can't afford all these extra costs It is there mistake not mine yet there going to get me no matter what because they don't & won't turn my serv back on till i pay them..

Cricket may still be best of a bad industry

#2Consumer Suggestion

All the cellular companies are sleasy. They all have places where the phones don't work and they all occasionally drop calls. However I can say that Cricket does fulfill their promise of unlimited calling and good coverage (at least in Syracuse NY). As for billing, all the cellular companies get sleazy. At least with Cricket, there is never the possibility of fradulant billing amounts or pre-pay minutes that somehow "dissappear". You either pay the flat fee ahead of the due date - or you don't. If you're just disputing an early disconnection or phone rebate, consider yourself lucky. I had to pay $310 to "Buy" my way out of my previous cellular contract from Voicestream (now I-Mode) due to "billing mistakes".
