First of all, I'm sorry for what happened to your phone. Be assured that it's not Cricket's fault. It's the manufacturer's. Remember, Cricket *only* provides service to the phones. Cricket *does not* make the phones. Really, your issue is with Motorola, not Cricket. I see that you signed up for the "unlimited" plan. By you saying that you're a student, I assume that you mean the plan for $29.99 per month. We do have an "unlimited" plan, but that one includes unlimited Long Distance as well, and I'm pretty sure you didn't get that one. Anyways, the Cricket "basic" (as we call it) doesn't come with text messaging or any call features like Call Waiting or voice mail. It's not a bad plan, especially for teenagers because it's not overly expensive and you don't have to count your minutes. As for the service to the phone, like I said before, it's a problem with the phone, not the service. I had a Motorola phone before, and it was one of the best phones I ever had. My kids basically trashed it, and it still worked (to my surprise). It was a model very similar to yours, the C331 (T-mobile). I see that you did *not* opt to add the insurance protection to the phone (only $3.95 per month). Mnay customers forget to do this, and when problems like this come up, then they get upset and want to blame Cricket. Every CSR offers insurance, and I know that I made *sure* to offer it at least 3 or 4 times to make sure that a customer understood the risk of *not* adding it. Cricket stands behind its phones, but again, rememeber that your problem is with the manufacturer, not Cricket. Cricket does NOT make the phones. Verizon would do the SAME thing (I recently signed up for a 2-year contract with them). If the phone stops working correctly, they would *first* check if you added insurance when you bought the phone. If you did NOT, then they would refer you to the manufacturer. If you want to disconnect your service, call customer service and tell the CSR you speak to that you want to "disconnect your service", then they will transfer you to the appropriate team that handles that. I see that you signed up with Verizon as well, but now you have the privilege of counting your minutes. A word of caution: *do NOT go over your minute usage!!* It will be VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!! Also, you have a 2 year contract with Verizon....whether you like the service or not, you MUST still abide by the contract, or Verizon WILL make you pay for that phone (the Early Termination Fee, which is at least $150, plus other hidden costs...Check your contract), and possibly some of the contract that you didn't finish. Believe me, Cricket is a good service for the service they provide, and it's going to be expanding in the next few months. You just got caught by *not* adding insurance at the time of activation (I hope you added it with Verizon). Contact Motorola and see if they can replace the phone due to manufacturer defects. Cricket doesn't "pick on poor people". They provide "comfortable wireless" with NO contracts. You decide to disconnect service, they won't charge you an "early termination fee" like other wireless carriers. Sorry for the trouble you had. Please contact Cricket at 1-800-CRICKET to disconnect your service if you decide that you don't like their service. Hope you have good service with Verizon. I kinda like it so far, but I get LOTS of dropped calls and "dead" areas. Maybe it's the phone?
