I was informed that the office manager and one of the realtors, who constantly brought up their faith, were uncomfortable with an openly gay person working in the office (where both the Office Manager and the realtor created a somewhat hostile environment) so I was terminated by the general manager and the corporate HR Director. During the meeting they had already decided to terminate me and did not investigate nor question my witnesses before deciding to terminate me. None of my concerns were addressed, my statements were dismissed out of hand, none of my witnesses or claims were investigated.

My name is David Thomas. I am an openly gay man and have been for the last 17 years of my life. I was a very proud member of the Crye-Leike Property Management family for four years. During my tenure with this locally based, now regionally expanded company, I served in four management positions covering 10 counties in Middle Tennessee. Linda Ayers, who was my direct supervisor during this time was well aware of my sexual preference. At NO POINT EVER was my sexuality an issue. I'm guessing due in large part that I personally didn't make it an issue. Linda and her staff as well as her personal family always welcomed my partner and I to their homes for holidays, family events, and work related events. Linda is not only a regal lady but an HONEST (almost to a fault) and fair person. The ONLY reason I chose to leave the Crye-Leike family was to persue a career in a field that wasn't offered by the company. I feel this post against Mrs. Ayers and her staff was ill intended by someone who is a. Cowardice due to their amonimity b.very insecure with themselves and c. Plainly just wasn't doing their job. In closing as far as the "faith" comments, Crye-Leike was built around family and faith. A good employee knew the history and read and lived by their mission statement. This individual was never forced to work for this company as slavery was abolished some time ago. I don't feel as if the "faith" of Crye-Leike or their staff is the issue here. I feel as if our ghoustly poster has an adverse intolerance of a company who has a proven record and expects the most of their employees.
