I've also am purchasing a home from Centex in California and I was refered to using CTX as my mortage lender. And as a bonus for using CTX I would have received 10k in closing costs. I completed everything CTX asked for, I meet the loan person, supplied them with every document they requested, did everything they asked and I received a good faith estimate. As my home was being built months went by and I assumed CTX had everything they need for my loan. We agreed that I would deposit 5% down for the home loan. Being that homes and foreclosing at a high rate; the CTX loan rep called me and asked if I could down 10% instead of 5%. I informed him that I could not. He said he will work on my loan and would cacll me back. As months went by I received a letter from Centex telling me that I had to have my loan finalized in 30 days as my house was about to close escrow. I have n\not heard anything from CTX about my loan. I just happened to stop by Centex sales office and talked to the Centex sales rep and she happened to tell me that CTX never got my loan. I called their offices twice and left messages; nothing. I had been stabbed in the back by CTX. I eventually scambled to get a loan from a bank and was approved through them. After I had my other loan all approved I received a call from a new person from CTX who left me a message saying that my initial CTX rep had left for vacation. But they found out that I got a loan from somewhere else and now they wanted to work with me again to get a loan! CTX never informed me that they could not get me a loan in the first place. They just left in the dark. If I haven't accidentaly found out that CTX didn't get me a loan I would have lost everything. It wasn't until they found out I got a loan elsewhere did they actually attempt to work with me. I believe they wanted me to fail and keep me in the dark. So that at the last possible minute CTX could tell me either down 10% or lose everything. Kind of like a take it or leave it deal only if I leave it i lose everything.
