Curtis Propeller Service, Inc. accepted full advanced payment, did not perform work, falsified completion Newburg, Maryland
Curtis Propeller Service accepted a boat to perform an almost complete overhaul of engine system and ancillary systems on boat including , mechanical, electrical, structural, cosmetic (approximately 20+ major/minor projects.) The service was guaranteed to be completed in 6 months.
The mechanic(s) falsified status reports for satisfactory ordering of parts, when none were ordered, damaged parts that were new, disassembled components of the boat and lost pieces, left items laying in boat yard, and damaged components of the boat. The mechanic did not complete the job on time, and did not complete the job in 9 months, and the boat was in almost no better condition when removed and transferred to a new mechanic service for review of the damage and repair of systems.
Worst, the mechanic falsified status reports for completion of projects such as engine overhauls, electrical replacements, when in fact the parts were never ordered and the projects were never started. The mechanic damaged the ancillary structural components of the boat, wrecked the satellite beacon (not part of the project), and the engines did not adequately run when the boat was finally removed from service and transferred to another mechanic.
The mechanic service failed to complete all projects except maybe one (satisfactory quality is unknown) after multiple extensions on the contract and did not refund the owner for the work not done, or compensate the owner for the utter destruction to components of the boat. Recovery of fees and losses to the vessel is in progress.
