Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This letter is to inform the public about the corrupt "Christian" organization known as D & D missionary homes and next step village. my roommate and I was asked to consider moving into their community. We both were single fathers rooming together to save money and was approached by a third party to consider filling out a lease agreement. In doing so there were multiply issues with the application and terms of the agreement. At that point my roommate convinced me to move forward and move in. Upon my moving in we meet with the director Jerry Trask. Upon my meeting with him I informed him of things I could not do and was informed to not worry about it and that they would work around my schedule for "meeting" monthly.

Upon our move in the first 2 months we had no meetings to attend. All was fine until more people moving into the community and everyone could not make the meetings. They made it mandatory for everyone to come to 2 meetings a month. Upon learning this I brought up the fact I could not make every meeting because of my work schedule. I work in sales and can not predict my schedule as I stated upon my moving in. Upon me bringing up this issue up, I had multiple email conversations where I was belittled because I was not going along with their system. After I was told I have to go to the meetings or move out (even though I had a 2 year lease agreement) I made an effort to avoid any conflict. Everything was fine for about a month until I allowed my brother to move into for a few weeks to get on his feet as well a neighbor spread a rumor of a relationship between her and myself which had not happened. Upon them hearing about this rumor they pulled me into the office and told me I wasn't a good fit for the program any longer.

Never not once ever asking me my side of the story. They did not know I hadn't had any type of relationship with this person and she was upset because I would not have a relationship with her and I was seeing someone else. It was an attempt to hurt me and my arrangements. Upon that meeting, I meet with my attorney and to be advised of my legal rights. We sent them a letter to inform them of my rights, upon that notice I received a letter telling me I had to move out within 7 days or I would be arrested for trespassing. The facts are I never was asked about any relationship or my side of the story. They assumed my guilt without every asking. They are suppose to representative of Christ and no where during this whole process was that ever shown. My attorney informed me in the end what they were doing was illegal because I had a signed agreement and was more then willing to fix any issues which is with accordance with the lease tenant law in Florida. In order to fight this in justice I would had to spend money I did not have.

Ultimately you should not support this program or this ministry. They charge rent for housing and claim its a maintenance fee to get around laws protecting lease holders. The house was roach infected before us moving in and upon Us moving in there was still a MAJOR problem with bugs. They never got it under control. They do not follow the same advice they try to give in the Christian faith. The current director should be fired. His ability to deal with people is not only poor but out of touch with reality. Anyone trying to support them should take their money else where. They are not a believer in practicing what they preach but try and rule with an iron fist. They take people's money and make rules as they go along. Please do your research before supporting anything they do.

I don't personally know the person who filed this report, but I have rented from D and D twice in the past and have appreciated their services greatly. They're half the price of any other place in the area for short term rentals for missionaries. The Next Step program they institued a few years ago because they had the housing stock for it and wanted to mostly help battered women. How this fellow even got to rent a place shows that they've adjusted their policies and want to help others, possibly people with substabce issues trying to get their lives together.

This person's report raised some flags with me, particularly his contention that he couldn't make the meetings, which, it appears, are few and easily met. The "I'm in sales and can't make some meetings" excuse sounds a little lame to me. If it were "I work in the Emergency dept. at the loca hospital and am on call" would be something a little more understandable.

I also know that they have a strict no alchohol and no drugs policy. Perhaps problems with this policy played a role, but I'm just speculating and have no information about this case. I know all the staff there, including Jerry Trask, and they have all treated me and my family decently. As a matter of fact, a few years ago one of the staff members there was fired for not treating D and D guests with proper courtesy. Bottom line is, I would take this man's story with a grain of salt. My experience, and the experience of everyone else I know who have rented from D and D was on the main positive.
