Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
This guy serviced our a/c and furnace for 18 years, now he's ripped us off.

Our a/c coil ? in the bottom of our furnace was leaking, unbeknownst to us, until we were told by the aforementioned service guy. he said it was rusting out and therefore leaking freon, thus our loss of a/c more often than usual.

Last week, after we had no air, he informed us that the coil had a rust hole in it. ( I have no idea how he knew, he never looked at it ). then informed us that the a/c was completely empty of freon.

While he supposeldy knew of this problem for quite some time, he continued to put freon in the a/c unit. Last time it was filled up, it took less than half a day to leak out. We also found out from our new service man that another part he supposedly fixed wasn't even broken. ( He left the "bad" part on our deck ). All the while he insisted that he knew of no one nearby in our area that selled a/c or furnace parts for a mobile home which is what we live in.

Our new service man so far is good. He's installed a new furnace. (la de da.. what do u know, he got it from a place within a few minutes of our house. so much for no one being nearby who sells parts ).

Last but not least, we feel we were overcharged. He charged us $400.00 for freon a part that was possibly good to begin with, and was told that kind of call should've cost us half that.

And, we were told that since he knew of the coil leaking , and kept putting freon in the unit anyway, he could possibly face a hefty. (possible ) $30,000. fine for doing that.

Anyhow, we're tired of this guy "blowing smoke up our a**", essentially lying to us, not doing his job properly, and him promising 4 YEARS ago that he would replace a different part on the furnace which he has yet to fix.

Now, since our new furnace is in, we find out that our old one was trash. Yes, age has something to do with it, but we feel his lack of service also had something to do with it. Since the coil did leak, ( we had no idea it was that bad untill we looked at the old furnace parts in the yard, before the new service man took it away. ) The bottom pan ? (excuse me for not knowing the proper jargon. ) was rusted out. And we had a mess as far as needing things rebuilt so the new furnace could fit properly.

Just goes to show, even after years of having the same company come to your house for work, still you should be leery. It's hard to trust anyone even tho you think you know them.

Before he left, he told us he's starting a hvac business in Alabama. People that live there, please beware if you ask him to service your unit.

First, I would like to thank you for your loyal patronage for 18 years.  This posting may be four years after the fact, but I just recently found it.  I saw many inconsistencies in what you were explaining in the events of the service call.

First off, when I looked at your unit the coil had been rusted.  Unfortunately, many people think that their air conditioner is simply the unit outside and that is not the case.  Most of the time when we look at the "air conditioner" we look at the air handler first because that is where the coil is located.  The coil is what the air moves over in order for it to cool.  The coil can get rusted because the freon will condense on the coil, which is why you see the condensation pipe run to the outside FROM the inside.

Also, you mentioned about a "part" that was possiby good, but did not mention what the part was.  Also, the unit on the insude is not your "furnace".  It is the air handler and also holds the coil.  Since mobile homes usually do not run gas, you have a heat pump which is essentially and air conditioner which can run in reverse, similar to how window units work.

Also, your new service tech replaced your furnace? Sounds like he told you enough to get you to spend more than what I charged you.

If you could provide more details on what parts were used and exactly what your new tech replaced, it would shed more light to the readers.

However, after 18 years of loyal service, I find it strange that you wrote this article.  I always go into a job and try to help the customer the best I can.  I recall that you did not want the coil replaced at that time as you did not have the money.  Anoter tech installing a furnace because you had no "a/c" is also puzzling.

If you had simply gotten a second opinion and brought your concerns to my attention, we could have rectified the situation.

In closing, If there is anyhting I can do to earn your business back, please call our office. I would be glad to speak with you personally and resolve your concers.
