On May 29, 2008, I called this place of business after it being referred to me by Colonia Del Rey RV (Eddie) here in Corpus Christi. I needed my air unit checked or serviced and no company would come out, I had to take my travel trailer to them if I wanted service. So I was referred to Dancy's RV Repair.. On the afternoon of the 29th of May 2008, Mr. Dancy showed up with his wife Jackie at about 1:30 p.m. and proceeded to check the air unit. After 40 minutes which was 2:10 p.m.he had taken off what was the fan motor and I was told me that he needed to go find one. So they left and came back at 3:30 p.m. with the fan motor. He did state that he had a hard time finding one. He went to work on trying to take the blades off the old one and at about 4:30 p.m. an hour later I was told that he was not able to take the ones on the old fan motor off. At that time I asked if the part could be returned, and was told that as long as it was done within 48 hours I could. Yet, I was told that he had some at home at his shop and could replace at no additional cost, so being that I don't know anything about what he was doing I trusted his judgement. They informed me that they would be back the next day. Needless to say my grandson (5) and I went through a most uncomfortable night. The following day the 30th of May 2008 at about 12pm they came with the part and from then to about 4:30 p.m. he attempted to place the part and make the unit work. About an hour after he started I asked that maybe it would be best that he return the part so I could just pay his time if need be cause I was seeing that Mr. Dancy was just getting more upset at not being able to get it to work right. But he continued and sent message with his wife Jackie that he could not return the part cause he had cut the leads (what ever that means) to adapt it. I felt at that point I was stuck with the part and his charges regardless. He semi got it to work and said it would be at no level (nor high or low) just air coming out. And then he said to keep the cover off(which makes it look horrible and dirty in the trailer on the ceiling) and to put a fan facing to the bedroom and one to the living area to circulate the air and told me that it should last through the summer but that next summer I would need to look into getting another unit. They ended up charging me $714.08 and I gave them check # 1051 from my Wells Fargo Checking Account for what I had borrowed which was $500. Then I was told that they really had not charged all the time he was here, but in fact I was charged. I really feel that as a professional he should have told me not to bother fixing it and to just get a new unit instead of doing what he did and this he could have done within the first hour and a half (and that is giving him ample time to assess the problem) on the 29th of May 2008, had he done that I would have had to pay about $160 and not get taken for a ride (a costly one). I even told them that I had just moved here to Corpus Christi on Memorial Day and was unemployed. I feel so taken advantage of. After they left in the middle of the night it was making a rattling noise and it sounded like metal hitting against something and I turned it off, if the unit was on for 8 hours that was alot. I called the next morning and left a message and to date have not been called back. I feel that I paid for very bad service that did not resolve my problem and they did not even have the decency to call me back. I am alone in a city where I know no one and am looking for work and they knew this. They led me to believe that the air unit was fixable when in fact by having me put fans in the trailer that said otherwise. I am not a smart person when it comes to technical services but that is no reason to be taken advantage of. All I ask is that I be refunded my money, because I did not get the service I paid for. I am asking your help because I don't know where else to turn. Too hot for my grandson & me.

I have no problem in that Mr. Dancy keep the $160 that I think he is entitled to because as a professional he should have known what kind of service he was giving me. By him not even returning my call tells me that he was just wanting to make money off of a naive person (me). The $160 is the $25 service charge that he charges and then he charges $90 an hour and at an hour and a half which is $135 was enough time for him to assess that it was not worth repairing. That brings the total to $160. I do not feel that I was given a chance when it came to the part he bought which was the fan motor, because he did not tell me that he had ruined the part to where it could not be returned until after the fact. Therefore, I ask that I be refunded $340 and that the remaining balance of $214.07 be removed to where I am not going to have to turn around and pay it later. That at least would be a start for me to try to get a unit that works properly before the weather gets even hotter. And I have no choice now but to get a unit because no one else services at the travel trailers and Mr. Dancy knows that. I believe that I am asking only what I feel is just and humanly correct. I have no way to transport or to pay to transport my 37 foot travel trailer to have it service. The only thing I can do is to get a new unit and have it installed.
