DANS TIRE AND AUTO Gross Overcharge- They towed a car 12 miles and charged us almost $400, including cleanup, which they did not do Batavia New York
This AAA garage was called to tow a car and we were not told they would charge us by the mile, even though we are AAA members.
When we called to pick up the car for scrap we were told there were $400 in charges, including mileage both ways, winching, snatch block skates, and cleanup.
THey did no cleanup, as volunteer fire fighters were on scene.
Furthermore, we had another party call them for an estimate and that person was quoted $138 for the same service! This company needs to be brought up on charges, or at least investigated.
There was no insurance coverage on this car for towing so this guy gets rich on a simple tow. We paid him more than the car was even worth. Talk about unethical...
Manager/operator was unwilling to negotiate this price. He also told AAA that they had a "personal issue" with us, even though we did not feel we were uncooperative, simply seeking an equitable solution.

I took my sister to the grocrey store, on the way back my cars tire blew out and I lost control. it's winter. I managed to steer it away from traffic and landed in some snow that was plowed by a shop in batavia which is closed it's 11pm, I replaced my tire and was waiting for a friend to come get me out, some who saw this happen called the sherrif who dispatch the trooper, he came out to help and Dan's tow truck was driving by, my sister has AAA as well as a baby at home, her husband came to pick her up. the trooper said it had to get towed because of it being at a shop I told him a friend was coming to help as I just needed it unstuck, he told me the same thing
so Dans towed it saying that I could bring my sister AAA info tomorrow and get the car, the trooper took me home. Dans towed it 1.5 miles. So I get to Dans to pick up my car, he said I owed him $182+tax I told him what the tow driver told me and the owner said that what he said is against company policy and he would never say that, and also said he reviewed the troopers report and my sister wasent with me is he cannot use AAA. I told him the story and he told me if you get the report then you can have your car using the AAA. so I went to the troopers.
The trooper told me that Dans tire should know better as they don't hand out reports to towcompanys, but gladly they called up Dans to confitrm that my sister was their, so I went to pick up my car. when I got their the owner insisted that they would not give me AAA anyways because the AAA info was not given at the time, so it was 182+tax. I called AAA and told them about this they said they would call Dans, Dans told AAA they would not accept it, so AAA called me back saying to fax them the reciept they would send out a forum and I would get a refund from them in weeks time,
when I got to Dans I payed them and waited 4 hrs for them to move a car blocking mine, they had the whole lot and they park the car in front of mine so I wouldnt take it, which I wasent until everything cleared, Thanks AAA but as for Dans I would NOT recomend them, I know some of the mechanics personally as well as I went to school with them, they don't do repairs right half the time they just send stuff out to get fixed, I'm a mechanic myself I restore classic cars as a hobby.

No you were NOT seeking an equitable solution, you just didnt want to pay. You thought you could make a issue and get it cheaper but when they wouldnt budge, you chose THIS avenue. Youre NOT reporting some GREAT INJUSTICE. If you WERE then we could give your "Equitable" statement credibility. No you just wanted to be as CHEAP as possible. THATS what dinged you. THAT is what ticked you off and made you cause a scene. Because THEY wouldnt give you YOUR way. Why is it ALWAYS ok for YOU to screw people and businesses over but when a business wont budge on a price, they become a villian. A nifty double standard there wouldnt you say?? Well for once you couldnt make a scene and get your way. And for once someone stood up to your bullying.
