Complaint Review: Dave Foss - Roselle Illinois

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!  Do not allow Dave Foss, the owner of this company, to set foot in your home!  He also does business under the name Eagle Home Remodeling.  In 2005 he filed Bankruptcy (05-55318) for a company he owned and operated called Eagle Drilling.  He may be in the process of changing the name of his company to Eagle.  He also owns a business called Cloud Vision Technologies that purports to offer to protect corporate data.  Hired to do a total gut and remodel of the first floor of my house.  Started the middle of January and supposed to finish by the end of February.  Once the demolition was completed he kept demanding more and more money.  Work ground to a virtual halt after he got his money.  When we hired him, we demanded that building permits be pulled.  We allowed him to begin demolition only after he assured us that he had pulled the proper building permits.  In March a building inspector paid an unannounced visit.  Foss had not been responding to the inspector's calls and had not been setting up inspections.  Turns out Foss had lied to the Village and had only paid $30 for a permit to remove and replace 450 feet of drywall.  This was such a big project that I had to order 2 of the biggest dumpsters you could get.  The entire first floor of our home down to studs.  Work was halted by the Village for about a month until the pemits could be staightened out.  Once work began Dave Foss is only bringing one or two workers a day with 2 or 3 sheets of drywall.  Because I have vaulted ceilings in my home the project requiresd an entire crew to install the drywall.  2 guys cannot install drywall on vaulted ceilings.  Finally, on April 27, after I was fed up with his excuses why he was only bringing one guy to work for a few hours a day, I fired Foss and sent a letter to Foss and the guy who signed us up in January threatening to sue them personally for fraud.  The guy who signed us up came to our house and told us that he is no longer partners with Foss but to avoid being sued peronally, he would take over the project and finish it.  By now Dave Foss had been paid the full contract price and then some.  His ex-partner told us that Foss could not complete our project because he is broke and cannot afford the labor and materials to finish the job.  All the money we had paid him was gone.  Project was finally finished on July 1, 2015.  That's about 5 months after it was supposeed to be completed.  On June 20, the subcontractor hired by Foss to install 2 new double hung windows knocks on my door demanding his money.  Dave Foss never paid the subcontractor even though we had paid Foss in full for the windows.  The contract called for 2 double hung windows.  Turns out Foss never told the subcontractor that he had to install double hung windows.  He told the sub to buy and install the cheapest windows he could find.  The windows are single hung basic windows. Not what we paid for.  When I pointed this out to Foss he kept on insisting they were double hung windows.  When I questioned him, it turns out he did not know the difference between a single hung and a double hung window.  I had to email him the definitions from Wikipedia to educate him.  I am trying to get my money back for the windows to pay the subcontractor because he is threatening to file a lien on my house and file a lawsuit against us to get his money.  I know of at least one subcontractor who did work for Foss on another project that was not paid by Foss and is chasing after him to get paid.

My family went through a horrible ordeal at the hands of Dave Foss and his "company."  For almost 6 months we had no kitchen.  We were forced to live in our basement with a microwave oven and a small sink in our basement bathroom.  We went through almost an entire winter with the first floor of our house totally gutten, exposed to the snow and cold.  It was one of the worst experiences of our lives.

I am posting this as a warning to anyone and eveyone.  If you do business with Dave Foss and any business owned and operated by him, be prepared to be ripped off!
