Buyer Beware if you hire this company to do any sort of roofing work.  First, they will sub contract out the work and combine crews and it makes accountability an issue, as everyone wants to point the finger to another "boss".  I hired David Glilliland, Inc to perform a $4,350 Flat Roof Remove and Replace Job that I was told would take no more than 2 days.  The job was started on Presidents Day Feb 16th and did not pass inspection until Wednesday, March 4th:  FACT.

13 days into the job, Feb. 28th, it rained heavily, and it RAINED INSIDE MY HOME!  I was told by David Gilliland at this point "No Worries, Insurance Will Handle the Claim, we will finish your roof as promised and we want to be paid upon completion"

I was first made to wait multiple days before I was provided any sort of insurance information, then I was given the subcontractor's insurance info and upon opening a claim against his policy, it was denied because HE WAS NOT ON THE POLICY SINCE 2012.

While I was trying to get the contractor's insurance info, as they clearly work with a subcontractor that is not insured properly, I was threatened with text messages asking for final payment of $3K (as I paid them $1,350 up front) or else a lien would be filed and an additional $500 late penalty administered.  Keep in mind when final payment was being asked for, the inspection wasn't signed off yet on the roof!  When I asked if they typically were paid in full prior to sign off from the inspector, they said "Yes, they always are paid in full before inspection is completed".

Now, here we are April 27th on a 1-2 day Flat Roofing job that began on Feb. 16th and my master bedroom/bathroom is unusable to this day because of all the insurance issues I'm having to attend to.  But David Gilliland Inc told me "not to worry, their insurance will handle my water issues, just pay them for the roof".  Keep in mind the estimate on the whole job was $4350 and the water damage estimates are coming in 3x that amount, but they need their money for the roof ASAP.

This company claims they have been in business for decades and have "no complaints", but I am here to simply pass along MY COMPLAINT from MY EXPERIENCE with them and their subcontracting crew.  TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE from start to finish, from the salesman who sold the job to the owner who fielded my concerns along the way.  All I have asked for is the company that is at fault for damaging my home to be held accountable and have some sort of professionalism in trying to work together to get this matter behind the both of us.  Instead, I have been given threatening text messages, summons to appear in small claims for their final roof payment, and lien placement.  Don't forget the house I live in remains in disarray because of the water damage, as I await approval on the claim from David Gilliland's Inc Insurance Carrier.

Buyer Beware, this company treated me so poorly and I would hate for anyone to have to deal with the headaches I have dealt with, especially since the leak was sooooo avoidable.  Do your reseach, check their license, insurance policies, subcontractors license and insurance policies, etc...............I have learned the hard way!

I would love to help and join in on the attempt to go after terry Lacoste , not sure how to contact you? He issued a warranty on the roof, manufacturer and labor and refuses to honor it, will not even call back, not surprising

I as well was recently scammed by these people. Have you gotten your issue resolved? I just found out that they filed chapter 7 bankruptcy back on Sept. 30th. I've lost $4,500 to them. They started my roof then decided to never come back to finish it. I also met with another guy in a similar situation. He lost $14,000 to them! We are working together to build a law suit agains the company and/or Terry Lacoste himself. Feel free to contact me directly! (((REDACTED)))

Issue Resolved!

I wanted to post a follow up comment to the original post to make it clear that this issue has been resolved, thanks in part to the senior leaders/owners/presidents of David E Gilliland, Inc.  We were able to sit down, as adults, and work together to come to a resolution.  The owner and the president of the company were very professional and I would like that to be known as a lasting impression, not the previous/initial post that has since been rectified.  I am very appreciative of the company's efforts in this matter and wish them nothing but success in the days to come!
