I am a recent Davison sucker with experiences very similar to other listed reports. Here's how I believe the company operates.

Each proposed invention goes into one of two priority streams:

1) NO HOPE OF EVER BEING MARKETED - the great majority of submissions by a margin of possibly 1000 or more to 1. The sole function of these submissions in Davison's eyes is to feed the bottom line. These mainly get attention from the "Directors of New Products" and virtually nobody else.

2) SOME OR SIGNIFICANT HOPE OF BEING MARKETED. These get the attention of everybody in the decision chain, including Davison's alleged "70 engineers and product design experts".

The Directors of New Products are commission sales men and women. The commissions could run as high as 20%. For the Priority 1 stream, the remaining 80% is almost pure profit for the company because little is done to fulfil more than the letter of the contracts. The result as was mine and other victims' experience are product redesigns and "Virtual Reality" renderings that are pure crap. In my case, I doubt if more than 15 minutes was spent dreaming up the monstrosity they came up with.

I suspect that every so often the Directors of New Products sit down with someone like vice-president Tony Valkanas and, in one hurried session, whiz through the latest crop of hopeless submissions, scratching out ideas for Virtual Reality redesigns on the backs of old envelopes. This is what Davision's promotional literature really means by "Inventigration".

What Priority 1 and Priority 2 submissions have in common is they are all, without exception, greeted by the Directors of New Products with "Wow! You've got a winner. Get your money in fast. Our design team is jumping up and down with excitement just waiting to go to work on your project."

These are the messages that I heard over and over again until I paid up - then there was a very long silence like someone had pulled a switch. After I received my Virtual Reality stinker, I asked repeatedly to talk to one of the members of the alleged "design team", find out why they designed what they did and get them to actually focus on the intent of my original proposal. My Director of New Products told me that it couldn't be done. They are all too busy.

There that's it for now. Hope I have made everybody feel better.
