I work as a promotional model. My job is to represent companies. Freelancing requires that when I take a job I am sure that I will be paid. When I met Patrick, via the phone, he was in desperate need for a last minute replacement. He called me on Saturday for Monday. I came at our appointed time and we discussed payment. Trade Show day rates have been 250 dollars for the past 25 years. He told me he could not pay me that rate, but he could pay me 200 dollars per day. Since I had two days free, I said yes. However I stipulated, and he has the invoice to prove it, that I would receive merchandise for the value of 50 dollars a day since he was paying under the trade show rate. He said okay. After working for two days for Patrick and having no trouble writing orders and interacting with people. Patrick asked me to stay for two more days. I said when can you pay me and he said in a few weeks. I said if you can pay me for 4 days on Thursday at 800, I can work. He said no. So I could not give him my time. During the time I worked for Patrick, the two days, he was not always present. Many customers complained to me that when they would place an order and leave their credit card, he would immediately make the charge but would not send the merchandise for another 3-5 months. I heard complaints like this all day. I became concerned that he was not honoring his committments and that is why when he asked me to work on Wednesday and Thursday and said he could not pay me at the end of Thursday, I did not accept his offer as I began to worry if he would pay me at all. Customers were not happy and being a temporary staff I couldn't do anything but smile and present his horn jewelry, stating they would have to direct their complaints to Patrick.

At the end of our two days, myself and the other tradeshow model (who he has also not paid) wrote many orders. Most of the time Patrick was not present or when he was he sat in his chair and did not, for the most part, engage with any of his customers, unless he knew one of them. He left all the order writing and sellers chit-chat to us. His booth was very dense. There were too many items and we arranged them to try and make it more pleasurable to the eye for the customers. We did our best in two days to be professional, helpful and constructive. On Tuesday afternoon I gave him the invoice 400 for two days work and 100 worth of wholesale product (obviously his cost would be less) that 500 equalled the going rate for two days of trade show work. I have worked trade shows for 10 years and am very prompt, neat, attractive, college educated and treat each company as if they were my own while I am in their booth. I take my work very seriously but I enjoy it as well. When I presented Patrick the invoice, Patrick looked stunned that I would present an invoice, what person in business would not present an invoice? Patrick and De Renaudin have not paid my 400 dollars and it has been almost 2 months. I gave him the opportunity several times via phone calls and via e-mail. He called me last week to say there must have been a mix up but that was after more than a month and a half. I made it clear that I needed the check within two weeks after the two days I worked. Patrick and De Renaudin were very unprofessional. Leaving me, although very capable, alone in his booth or with the other model, arriving whenever he chose to, not engaging with his clients, charging credit cards before making shipments, not paying his tradeshow models, who are the one and only reason you make sales at the Jacob Javits Center i.e. is by having enthusiastic, attractive and professional models. He did not make a good impression on me, nor on his customers. He left a freelance worker without her well-earned 400 dollars and in New York City, I noticed it in a deep way. New York is not an easy place to live and Patrick and De Renaudin made it worse.

Right now I am on the computer wasting my time that I could be taking to look for more work, prepare for my next job or take consideration of my finances at this difficult time, but due to the neglegence of The Company DeRenaudin and Patrick, I am wasting my time because I have to track a business down for my payment. This is disrespectful of them to waste my time. I was used for their growth of their company. The Jacob Javits Center is a VERY important part of business and their growth. I provided a service and by continuing to not pay, they only cause panic and concern in my life.
