Dell Computers ripoff, bait-and-switch, false advertising Internet Nationwide
Today I tried to order a Dell Computer advertised in the Sunday newspaper as an online offer only--what follows is the letter I ended up sending to Dell customer service, who wrote back to say they do not reply to pre-sale customer emails. How can I become a customer if they will not honor their advertisements.
"Today I attempted to order this computer advertised in the Reading Eagle newspaper for $449: P4wHT (3GHz), XPHome, Vista Capable, 512 DDR SDRAM, 160 GB HD, 17" FP E176FP, DC/DVD Burner (DVD+/-RW), 1-Yr Lim At Home Service. The online only offer differs in several ways. When I attempted to call in the order as advertised in the paper, i was told it would be $20 more because of the 3GHz as advertised in the paper (instead of 2.8 GHz processor)! Isn't that false advertising? The offer is supposed to be available July 3-14. Ultimately, the computer advertised in the paper at $449 (Regularly $789) for online orders only is priced at $489 when you actually go to order the computer. Don't you sell your products for the advertised price?
