Dell ripoff Wasted much of my time austin Texas
I bought a NEW Dell Dimension 4500 about 4 months ago. It was OK so I bought a NEW Dell Inspiron 4150 to create a home network.
I have not been able to make the 2 share files or internet connection so I called Dell tech support on 3 different occations. Hold time is ALWAYS about 30-45 minutes. All 3 times have beed unsuccessful at resolving my problem.
I have spent 2 hours and 15 minutes on the phone with 5 different people at Dell tonight and they have now forwarded me back to "Ken" the guy I began with. He finally said "we don't offer support on networking". I could only reply "No s**t, why didn't you say that 3 days, 2 hours and 15 minutes ago?" It it now 2 A.M.
I still do not have they computers networked. Please consider my experiance if your thinking of getting a Dell, dude.

Sir: I am a computer support tech for a major national computer manufacturer. I will agree that the Dell tech should have told you from the start that they can not help you. However, Dell and any other manufacturer is under not obligation to teach you how to use your computer. Just as Ford is under no obligation to teach you how to parallel park your car. Networking two computers is not something you can do easily. It is a function of having the correct hardware and configuring the software. The Dell warranty is on the computer itself. You are asking Dell to teach you networking for free. This is not fair to Dell or any other company. Getting two computers to talk to each other on a network is easy, provided you know what you are doing. I suggest to you that you take the time to learn how to do it youself.
