In July I took a tour with Grand Circle Travel to Europe. I was given a choice of airlines to fly on. I chose Delta and their partners since I belonged to their Sky Miles program. When I returned home after the trip I checked my Sky Miles mileage and notice that some of my flights were not added to my account. The missing miles were all from the Delta flights I had flown.
I looked at the chart describing how to earn miles. I had flown in "U" class, deeply discounted economy. According to the chart I would earn 100% of the miles flown. I called Delta Sky Miles and the representative I spoke with agreed that I should have earned miles, but she could not understand why none of the Delta flights weren't even listed on my account.
I went ahead and mailed all my boarding passes and my itinerary to Sky Miles hoping to rectify this problem. A few weeks later I received an email stating that the rules for earning miles in "U" class had changed and that if the ticket was purchased through an agency or tour company (like Grand Circle Travel) I would only earn 25% of the actual miles flown. I'm very disappointed in Delta and their Sky Miles program. Now knowing this, when I go on a tour and have a choice of airlines, Delta will not be my choice.
