Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My husband and I purchased a Dencor Energy Management System for our new home in November 2005. We were told by the installer that by using this system, we should see monthly energy savings of between 30-40%. We have yet to see one penny of savings with this system since it was installed. Some of our monthly bills have even been more than they were without the system. We contacted Dencor directly and was told that the savings for the system were more like 20-25%, which again was untrue since we didn't have any saving on the system.

In addition, we were given a cashback rebate which would have allowed us to get the full amount back of purchase if we followed the instructions. The company is now out of business, so we were lied to about the system and the rebate.

Do not use this company for any of their products and since I were for a national construction company, I will be instructing all of our project managers, superintendents and estimators to eliminate them from our subcontractor base and I will begin calling every single general contractor in the country, starting with Colorado to elert them of this company's fraudulent activities.

"Sandra",

You are well aware of the facts but have chosen to use this website in an extortionist manner so I am going to lay out the facts for everyone to see.

The system that was installed in your home was sold to you by Arizona Energy Management, a company that was owned by Robert Pierson.  Both AEM and Robert Pierson were, and still are completely seperate from Dencor Controls and other affiliated entities.  Robert and AEM bought systems from us and resold equipment to homeowners in the Phoenix area.

We have been in business since 1974 and have a sterling reputation; you can search the web and yours is the only complaint you will find, in nearly 40 years of business that is pretty impressive.  As you are well aware, we spoke on the phone when you were unhappy with the savings your system was providing and you demanded your money back.  You insisted you were only seeing about a 5% reduction in your bill and that wasn't close to the 20% you were told by AEM was realistic.  I also pointed out to you that both SRP and APS, the two electric providers in the Phoenix area, had raised prices approximately 15% since the time your system was installed until the point you decided you were unhappy.  Once this fact was pointed out to you, you'll recall, you became indignant and told me you just wanted your money back.

I went on to explain to you that your issue wasn't with us, it was with the distributor of our product, AEM, and AEM had gone out of business so you were trying to get your money back from anyone you figured you could shake down.  I also told you that before AEM went out of business we obtained judgements against them and Robert Pierson personally totaling approximately $80,000 for monies they owed us.

You can see from the other responses to your complaint that two other companies that sell our systems have offered to provide you with assistance to determine if the system could be programmed in a different way in order to obtain more savings and you have refused to respond to either offer.  Your intentions are clear, even though the system is doing exactly what its supposed to you want your money back and you will stop at nothing or no one until you get it even if it means resorting to untruths.

Your complaint listed here ignores the facts and makes it look like you had a business relationship with us and you were unhappy.  In fact, you never had a business relationship with us, the system did exactly what it was supposed to do and you posted a completely innacurate complaint here only after we refused to give you money back that you paid to another company.

I have contacted my counsel, Christian Onsager, at Onsager Staelin & Guyerson and I am going to give you 15 days to remove this untrue and slanderous post otherwise we will commence a "Jane Doe" lawsuit and issue subpoenas to Rip Off Report in order to obtain your IP address and true identity.  Its not right you have chosen to make untrue statements about us when we have never even dealt with you in the past and the product you are complaining about is doing what its supposed to be doing.  Just like we can't be held responsible for the actions or inactions of someone else, we can't be held responsible for a utility raising their electric rates.

Regards,
Matt Essig

Hello, My name is Rick Davis and I am the founder of Davis & Associates in Hampton, VA. I have been a dealer for Dencor for about 8 years now and I have placed 100's Dencor systems throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The Dencor product is an awesome energy management system, however...it is only as smart as the programmer who set it up for you. I would bet that there is nothing wrong with the "Base" equipment and if there was, Dencor provides a ten year warranty if there is an equipment malfunction due to how it was manufactured. From your post, it appears that the dealer who sold the equipment is the one at fault. They did not live up to the promises of their agreement. That is a shame. I would like to help. It just so happens that I will be in Phoenix on the 18th-20th of April 2009. I have time on the afternoon of the 18th to come to your home and take a look at your system. If it is a programming issue, I can fix that on the spot for you. If it requires re-installing a portion of the system, we can get that worked out for you as well. My goal is compete customer satisfaction...period. You are not my customer, however, your post effects my customers, so we want to make it right for you. Also, savings of 30-40% is very aggressive. I have seen that type of savings but that required some additional lifestyle changes from the consumer. Our typical savings for our base is 21%. Some lower, some higher. Your savings is determined by how the local utility rates are affected by the Dencor system managing your usage. If you would like for my company to look at your system, please contact me at (757) 826 9138. Of course we would not charge you anything for our service, including the proposed service call at your home. Sandra, I'm really sorry that you had a bad experience with a company that installed your Dencor Demand Controller. The problem is with the installing company and not Dencor. I work with a company in NC that installs Dencor and we have hundreds of installs with an average of 38% savings on customer's electric bill. It sounds like either your system is not properly set up or it's the wrong system for your home. Of course, there could be something not operating properly in the system itself, and a service call would take care of that. I am sure you could contact Dencor directly to find a dealer in your area who could make changes to the programming or installation, if that's the problem. If something is broken or not working properly, they could also repair your unit. If I were close, I'd do it for free so you would realize the savings you were looking for and promised.
