Got a strange phone call earlier this morning from a guy named "Eddie Smith," claiming to represent US Cash Advance for a payday loan I never intended to pay back. "Eddie" sounds very Indian, or something like it, and threatened me with legal action, an affidavidt would be filed against me because of my 'fraudulent' action.
Well, I've never heard of this US Cash Advance, nor did I do a payday loan with such an outfit. I did do one recently that yes, was online, but that's done and over with, and it was not with these bozos! It concerns me that my info is still floating out there somewhere, and somehow this person or persons got a hold of it. Luckily I did recently change bank accounts! I'll be keeping an eye on my credit now, even though it already sucks. The e-mail address I noted was the closest I could find for where the company this person was claiming to represent, and even on their website they note they are aware of such a scam. Good thing I did some research and found this out. I am ignoring any further phone calls.
If they call me at work again, good thing I can also have our IT department block the number. Anyone with a legitimate business would have a traceable land line, one that's not unlisted like the one they gave: 714-459-5878. If you get a phone call from this number, ignore it!
