DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! Unless you like a prison environment and absolute crap treatment OR really, to be more accurate, non-existent treatment. You get treated purely like a 20 year old inmate here. AVOID!!!, seriously, AVOID this garbage of a rehab. The staff is total ghetto! The only thing you get here is 3 square meals and really crappy, disorganized group meetings that are utterly useless. They watch your every move and monitor you just like an inmate. Some of the staff are very nice but they ALL treat you like an inmate. Even the big boss David is a scumbag, I know, I met with him several times. This place has NO business BEING in business! It's amazing that anyone would give them a positive review. Unless you've spent time in prison and are OK with that, stay away from this joint because that's basically what it is like, the joint! The BHT's (the "floor people") are just a bunch of newly sober AA people who know absolutely nothing about recovery and how to treat people. They treat eveyone like a 20 year old punk and, for the record, there are far too many 20 year old punks there also. The experience was a nightmare for me. The whole facility is a facade of lies and a house of cards. NOTHING they told me I would get was true! Nothing but lies just to get you there. Thankfully, I got some important things in writing so I could leave and that's exactly what I did. I did stay for about 17 days but it was very uncomfortable most of the time. I've never been to jail but I now know what the mentality is! Many of the patients are ex-cons so you can get an idea of the basic mentality of this place. It's like living in the Serengetti, the lions are in charge and get their way unless a group of Hyenas take over. It's like living in the animal world. I was told there was a pool and to bring my trunks but guess what? No pool!! Yep, and read other reviews on this, I'm NOT the only one (not even close) who was told this. I was also told I would be able to have my iPhone as I was going through a purchase of my business and I although I was very commited to my treatment, I simply could NOT fall off the grid for 30 days. This was an non-negotiable condition of me checking in and they agreed to it. I tried to explain it to just about everyone including the big boss David and was just treated like a 20 year old punk and go ZERO respect (or results) for my situation. BTW: I was a cash pay customer, I did NOT use my insurance. I tried to reason with David because I just needed to be in contact with my attorneys, accountants and MANY other important people during the company purchase and he ase nothing more than a complete and total disrespectful jacka**!! Really, this guy is in charge? No wonder this place is ghetto! I just don't get how they can tell so many lies and get away with it. Luckily I only committed to paying them on a weekly basis so I could leave and not have to worry about being reimbursed by these scumbags who should be in jail, not in business. I am sure as I am writing this that they would NOT have reimbursed anything even though it was in my agreement. The only reason it was in my agreement is because I forced them to before I checked in. They DID NOT want to agree to anything which should have been my first RED FLAG. This place is just crap! Seriously, I could go on and on about how bad it is but I think I have said enough but trust me, there IS more. To summarize: If you want a place that gives you almost zero quality drug treatment (and I mean almost nothing!) and treats you like a jail inmate then by all means go and enjoy yourself but if you are, aside from your addiction problem, a relatively successful and respectful adult, STAY AWAY! If you do go, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING! BTW: I left this dump and checked into the much more expensive Passages of Malibu and the treatment there is wonderful. Not enough good things to say about them. I loved the facility, staff, the treatment, the food, everything! I had a private room, TV, phone, just about everything except any kind of medications. You want good treatment, try Passages, they do take insurance if you have a god plan. I paid cash, about $60K but it was worth it. Desert Flop is truly a RIP OFF!

After reading these negative reviews on here regarding Desert Hope from 2015, I wanted to give everyone an update as a patient. As of today, I can honestly say the operations at Desert Hope is very streamlined, professional and the staff is amazing.
We have 4 programs during the daytime offered of for clients here that focus on gaining cooping skills to help us deal with our addiction while also offering evening programs for AA and NA. As a veteran myself, I greatly appreciate the Batillion programs because it focuses on veteransand first responders. The lead therapist here is extremly intelligent and very professional which is appreciated since being an inpatient at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital is horriffic.
There are several restrictions we have in place here but I soon realized those implemented measures are here to protect us from outside negative influence and truthfully ourselves as well. I was surprised they allowed us to keep our cell phones and other electronic devices unlike most other rehab faucilities. The food is amazing, we get 3 full course meals everyday and they even have a dedicated pastry chef who makes the best deserts I've ever had in my entire life. The coffee is weak and often not satisfying being so watered down but I just purchased instant coffee for my room to remedy that problem. Desert Hope also has a gift shop located on premises that provides snacks, drinks, clothing, jewlery etc.. Every Friday they offer horse-back riding with permission from your individual therapist.
The Behavioral Health Techs (B.H.T.) are always busy encourging us to attend the programs throughout the day but they are very friendly, understanding to our needs and show compassion. Since Desert Hope is coed, the B.H.T.'s are very observant and ensure the males and females do not mingle together outside of the program classes. The nurses here are always in a good mood and act professional at all times even when patients try to get under their skin. The personnel at the front desk help us coordinate to run errands and help us communicate with our families.
The leadership here is definitly on point with patient safety and ensuring our therapist and ourselves are held accountable for our actions. If a client gets out of line the management will come together and smooth over any issues we have fairly quickly. The two top leaders here are extremly intelligent, knowledable and mission focused on the needs of the patient. I have never seen upper management go out of their way to speak with the clients to see what they can improve on and actually take that feedback and implement a positive change within a very short period of time.
I see new clients come through Desert Hope with negative attitudes and they're the first ones to quit. I try to tell people rehab isn't for people who need it, its for people that want it. Hope this update helps someone.

I can't express enough appriciation to you for taking the time to inform the public about your experience at the Desert Hoax treatment facility in Las Vegas, NV. I was also ill-persuaded into paying $25,500.00, in cash up front, for a (30) day in-patient stay for a family member with addiction issues. This facility, Desert Hope, is a mixture of incompetence that boarders on criminal activity. The incompetence is their entire rehabilitation protocol, inept staffing and lack of organizational control. The criminal is the thousands of dollars being collected from prospective patients without any recourse available for fraudulently representing themselves. If this were a medical facility it would be required to carry malpractice insurance for this type of negligence.
I have posted, along with others, several derrogatory reports on this American Addiction Centers facility that it should have attracted the attention of an atorney. If ever there were circumstances that called for a class action law suit this is ideal and needed.
Please go to highya.com, scamorg.com and the Better Business Bureau, under American Addiction Centers. You will find some scathing reports on the American Addiction Centers from some enraged post patients. I'm convinced that Desert Hope will eventually be closed down due to all the bad publicity they've generated. It is because of people like you that are willing to take the time to post your experience that will eventually make a difference.
