Desert Ridge Community Association Poor accounting practice, aggressive legal, unreasonable Phoenix Arizona
Simple.
I missed a bi yearly payment to the hoa.
4 months later they send a late fee, and a new bill for the 2nd half of the year. Scheduled online bill payment for due date on bill. Included 1st bi yearly payment, 2nd bi yearly payment and late fee/rebill fee.
1 month after that I get a colletions bill from attorney, saying I owed several hundred dollars. I ignored it - I already got a bill and paid it.
Long story short, it ends up in court. I'm told by the mediator that I am going to loose. An HOA doesn't have to send you a "bill".
Even though they sent a "bill", with a due date, that I paid? Look real closely at the bill. It says "This may not be all inclusive".
What a joke!
Fast forward 2 months after settling, and being all paid up through 12/31. Now I can't pay online, saying its still in collections. its now "fixed", and they send me a past due balance from before 12/31!! Its a simple accounting mistake on their end.
Watch closely.
