i awoke on October 21, 2013 to find my 2009 acura tsx missing from my paid, covered parking.  after contacting grand prairie police department, to my surprise i was informed that my car had been towed by dfw towing and was given a number to contact them, since no additional details were provided by the police and i knew all of my stickers on my car were up to date.  when I called the towing company i was informed that the car was towed due to no resident sticker.  imagine my surprise since the saturday prior to my car being towed i had just signed a new lease with no mention of a resident sticker or a penalty of my car which i have parked in the same paid parking spot since july 2012 being towed.  since i had no transportation and determined that the apartment complex authorized it, i went to the rental office to inquire about the new resident sticker policy and was informed by the manager that they placed the letter on all residents apartment  doors.  i informed the manager that i had no knowledge of any notice and it was odd that there was no mention of this when i signed my new lease two days earlier, at which time she informed me that this was not her problem and i was responsible for knowing about something that was never presented to me.  i politely asked if someone would be able to take me to pick up the car so i could get to work and was informed that i needed to arrange for my family, who live in waco, texas to take me or call a cab to take me to get my car.  i informed the manager that i had no family near and with a quote of $290.00 to get my car i could not afford to pay for a taxi to take me nearly 30 mles away.  the manager told me to go to my apartment and she'd call me when she got done, but i informed her that i would stay in the lobby and wait.

i observed her peeking out of the office while i quietly sat and waited and a few minutes later she called me into the office and told me that i could speak to the tow company staff.  i spoke with the guy from the towing company about my inability to get transportation and he agreed to pick me up and offered to lower the tow charge by $100.  after his arrival we proceeded to a part of town i was unfamiliar with and during the drive i heard him offer to lower the tow charge for the lady he was on the phone with, from several hundred dollars to $75 and while overhearing the call and his discussion with a young man in the back seat, the lady he was on the phone with had her vehicle towed from an apartment complex one week earlier and i thought that was rather odd, since my vehicle was driven back from waco, texas the night before and according to the receipt was on the towing lot from 6:00am to 11:28am.  After arriving to the little shack, there were no signs that indicated how much a tow CST, much less an illegal tow and the lady behind the tinted window asked for my license, quoted a price of $193 dollars and never uttered another word to me.  i was so ready to get away from that seedy part of town and get to work, which all of this resulted in me being more than four hours late and required me to use pto (paid time off) to receive full compensation.  on that day i felt so violated, but had no idea about what to do or if there were any legal remedies.  i would like to know what my next action should be?  Thank you for your attention to ths matter.

i have spoken with a legal representative who advised me to first report the company who took money after illegally towing my vehicle.  i was informed that i should have been served legal papers that require confirmation that i was aware that my car would be towed, otherwise the tow company stole my car.  i never received notification and the additional information i was given that your company is required to post the cost of a tow, legal or illegal and i have photos of the establishment where my car was towed and there are absolutely no signs posted.  as for my being at fault i never knew of any legal presidence that stated your car could be towed from covered parking paid for by the owner of the towed vehicle over the last 4 years.

You stated that You just signed a new lease at the Apt. complex and they Did Not Mention the New Towing Rules. The tow company can Only due what the Apt. Specifies in our service agreement. You also stated that you asked your Manager of the Apt. to take you to the tow company and she Did Not and that Someone from the tow company came and picked you up and gave you a Discount ontop of Picking you up Wich We never pick up anyone but made and acception for You. So after all that you Blame the Tow Company and We were the ONLY ones that HELPED you out. .Seems like maybe you should take responsabilty for your own actions .You are saying its everyone elses fault but yours and ontop of that placeing blame on the only people that helped you out.....
