DHgate Had me return item that was wrong size and then would not give refund Internet
I ordered a dress from DHgate website for my daughters prom. Once the dress was received, it was nothing like the
dress that was represented on the website and didn't fit. I asked to return the dress and the seller only wanted it to be altered.
The dress was not received within the time frame that it was promised. I filed a dispute with DHgate who ruled in myfavor for a full refund. They asked me to provide them with a tracking number and a photo of the returned item label. The selller did not provide me with a return address as they were supposed to do so I used what was on the original package.
The U.S. Postal service would only give me a customs number, not a tracking number, for the international shipment. I provided this information to DHgate as requested. About 7 days after I had mailed the package, DHgate informed me that the dispute was closed and the money was released to seller because I didn't provide a tracking number. I tried to explain to them with no success that the Postal Service would only give me a customs number for the return.
DHgate suggested I contact the seller once the dress was received. I did, and the seller stated DHgate had closed the dispute and they did not have to refund me. So, they keep a $139.00 dress, my $139.00, and an additional $31.25 it cost me to return it. I emailed DHgate and told them I had never heard of a customer having to return an item and not having anything to show for it.
So, doing business with them, I have spent $170.00 and have nothing to show for it. I also inquired as to why the dispute was not closed when the seller didn't supply me with a return address as they were supposed to but I guess I already know the answer to that.
