or even a strong suspicion that any of this is true, contact your local State Police Dept, INS, IRS and even the State Labor Board. Those who facilitate illegals working in the US are being prosecuted, the illegals are being bussed out, the IRS insists on the taxes being paid (to the best of my knowledge, which may be outdated at this time, anyone working for cash and receiving over $600 per year is required to be issued a 1099 for tax purposes), and the Labor Board kind of likes to have people paid for services rendered. Sounds like you were an employee that got stiffed, and are in a position to make sure that others don't suffer the same fate. Don't want to be dragged into the quagmire?
