I paid $2,250 for a 7 year/100,000 mile Warranty on my 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis.  The contract was entered into on 11/30/2007.

On 12/6/2011, both my dealer and I attempted to file a claim with Direct Choice Automotive Warranty a/k/a Consumer Direct Warranty Services.  Their phone number was not operational, and we could not find a web site for either of these companies.

Next we tried to contact General Warranty Services, 282 Main Street, Salem, NH 3079 (?), listed in the contract under "Seller Information."  Again, (603) 685-6250 was not operational, and we could not find a web site for this company.

Both the engine and the water pump on my Mercury needed to be replaced, but after an entire month of not being able to contact anyone, I ended up having to buy both parts myself and find mechanics to install them, because the dealer's charges were more than I paid for the entire warranty. 

I maintained this vehicle very well according to the manufacturer's service guidelines, and expected the warranty to be available if I needed it.  When I first agreed to the contract, I could not find any consumer complaints against either of the companies listed in Paragraph 1.  Their packaging was very professional, and they even sent helpful items to extend the life of my vehicle.
