I WAS IN A CONTRACT WITH DIRECT TV FOR 2 YEARS AND THE SERVICE WAS OK. I HAD PROBLEMS HERE AND THERE WITH THEIR RECIEVERS SO I OPPTED TO GET THEIR INSURANCE. I HAD 2 OF MY BOXES REPLACED WITHIN THE 2 YEARS. JANUARY IS WHEN MY AGREEMENT WAS UP SO I STARTED SHOPPING FOR ANOTHER PROVIDER. WELL.... MY 3RD BOX WENT OUT AND HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACE IT...SO THEY DID AND THEN WITHOUT TELLING ME AUTOMATICLY SIGNED ME UP FOR ANOTHER 18 MONTH CONTRACT.

TODAY I CALLED TO CANCEL MY SERVICE TO GO WITH COMCAST AND WAS TOLD I HAVE TO PAY A CANCELLATION FEE OR IT WILL GO ON MY CREDIT. IS THAT OK TO DO? I DONT THINK SO. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO PHONE NUMBERS TO CALL AND I HAVE TO WRITE A LETTER TO THE CORPERATE OFFICE. DIRECT TV BLOWS AND MY FRIENDS AND I WILL NEVER GO THROUGH THEM AGAIN.

ok mr justice seeker what have a bad fantasy from childhood your not a d**n super hero you are the ignorant one anytime something is ordered from them they do tell you it extends out their contract that box they ordered cost DTV about 300 dollars they are not just going to give it to you free loaders like you are ridiculous grow up and read your paper work like an adult

I have had Direct TV for over 6 years - never had a problem, no equipment has been replaced and never had an outage during storms
Did have Comcast and had nothing but problems - My parents have Direct TV (they too had many problems with Comcast as well)
I know the terms and conditions of my contract - seems that you do not.
And no - I do not work for Direct TV so I suggest you look at the contract you signed - Good luck for you are gonna have tons of problems with Comcast

Your remark is ignorant, and non-constructive.  It is a common complaint that DirecTV customers aren't made aware that if a faulty receiver has to be replaced, that their service contract is then automatically extended.
 
This is yet another of the unnacceptable business practices so common among the telecommunications companies.
