Hello.

This is in respsonse to Discount tire and the anger I have formed. I Have bought many tires from this company and been been very faitihful to them. I had to attempt no less than 4 times to get a response back. Im looking to buy some GoodYear Dura Trac tires in 31x10.50x15. Discount tire claims free shipping when its not free. they inflate there tire prices. They refuse to honor there own written policies and dont mean to "do what it takes to earn your business". I finally received an email back from Johnathan Ervin who is a regional rep. He was told of the price difference from (((Redacted))) The same tire is 147 while the tire from Discount was 167 and they just changed it to 165. The rep has refused to accept that (((Redacted))) has beat them and he even talked to the Districk President who also refuses to act. The company doesnt have free shipping, it charges you for the shipping. Yeah big suprise, I know. The issue is that they are losing there Morale ground and dont price match like they claim. There policies are hollow and worthless. (((Redacted))) still beats them with shipping! Though these discount tires are supposed to be with free shipping. His email is [email protected] His contact info is

Hello,

I understand your question. I am yet to buy these tires. i dont need them but had the money and thought I would get them. Every store is different within the Discount tire chain. I was using there online search engine. I didnt get any prices fron a brick and morter store, I found them at a stire that sells tires and ends in a rack. They are 147 plus shipping. The stems and tire mount are not big deals to me. I dont have any discount tires in Alaska where i live, though i was getting them shipped to Indiana. Any ways discount only brought there price down two dollars so they can be equal with the racks tires+ shipping. Makes me wonder what the definition of :"free shipping is"? Discounts was a good company but they seem to be struggling and not wanting to back up there rules.  Hope this helps..

Was Your Pricing Online or in Store?

Hello yellow.dawg,

I am in the market for tires, and was searching here for opinions on who to or not to buy from.

I have heard nothing but good things about Discount Tire from my friends and family, so this report intrigued me.  A quick online search of local competitors has left me with a few questions:

Was the competitor you referenced online or a brick and mortar store?

The online competitor I found with your tire priced @ $147 also had a freight charge of about $20 a tire, bringing the price to a total of $167.  None of the local places with pricing online, except Discount Tire($165) had a price even close to that.

Not to mention, there would be added charges for installation, and services down the road would cost even more.  Buying from Discount would seem a better value to me, as they only charge $14.99 for install which includes all the free services.

Your tire, shipped from the online retailer I found, including shipping, the cheapest install I found($20 + $3 for valve) totaled it at $190, not including taxes.  The tire installed at a local Discount store was put on(including all the environmental fees, whatever that is) at $182.74.  That is gathered from the link you provided.

I suppose my question is, what did you end up doing, and did you end up buying from Discount, or the other retailer you mentioned?  What was the total price you ended up paying?
