When a customer calls in to request their Cash Back Bonus, I always strongly suggest having it credit to their account or be directly deposited into their checking account. I have seen in the past where the CBB check has been issued but not received and/or cashed; I hate having to tell people we need to wait until 6 weeks after issue before re-issue. The best thing is to not use the check in the first place.

David, Sorry to hear that you are having problems with Discover. You can also try using their website www.discovercard.com to cash out your CBB. You have the option of having a check sent to you, having the money directly deposited to your bank account or you can shop the discounted vendors listed on the site. I had my CBB directly deposited and the money was there in less than a week.

David, I am sorry to hear you are having such difficulty getting your Cashback Bonus. $540 is a lot to have to wait for! I know you might be disappointed by the changes we've made to the program. We have stopped sending the checks automatically because we were having trouble with customers moving away, not giving us their new address (many unintentionally forget because they are not actively using card at the time they moved). Then we would send checks and the wrong parties would attempt to cash them. Sometimes they were successful. To avoid these losses, we decided to revamp the program, offering more choices on how to redeem the bonus while making it safer for everyone involved to do so. At any rate, when you request the check be given to you (as opposed to a credit to your account or to getting up to 50% off with our merchant partners, donating it to charity, or even adding it to your investment accounts) we have to request the check. Due to printing schedules (they are cut in batches rather than "on demand") checks can be in your mailbox as early as 10 days after the day you called to request it all the way up to 6 weeks, depending on where the printers are in the "batch" cycle process. A wide variance, I know, but with millions of checks to write, it takes time. However, that does not excuse the failure to deliver on your first request (unless you waited less than 6 weeks to call to ask what happened to your check). You've done everything just right on your end, and I hope you receive your check soon. As for your comment about being able to get your bill but not your check, I can only apologize again for the problem. Billing and Cashback are most likely handled by separate facilities, both affected by separate issues and problems. I sincerely hope you receive your check soon. I know it may sound like I am passing the buck but I am in an entirely different department and don't have access to check on or send Cashback bonuses. It certainly sounds like someone dropped the ball on this one, and in those cases there is nothing we can do but apologize and try to offer some insights (such as the ones above) to make the delay more bearable. I hope we can continue our business relationship for years to come.
