I am so sad this person had a bad experience. I just finished the 3rd class of three in the core courses. I have never felt so good about my future as do today. Discovery is obviously not for everyone. You have to be honest with yourself and ready to change things in your life that may need changing. I attended with an open heart and had the best experience of my life.
For many reasons, you do not share what the experience is before you send or sponsor someone to this training. This training, as I said, is not for everyone but I believe everyone deserves this training. I can honestly say I know why I am in this world now. I have a purpose, I have a mission, I know what I was made for and have a focus to accomplish that mission.
Just because a small minority had a bad experience does not mean that this training is worthless. There are over 7 billion people in the world, I am sure there are more that may not appreciate this training. As for me and my friends in the classes I attended; We have a bond that will last forever. I made friends who hold me accountable and want my success as much as I do and that is PRICELESS.

I am so saddened to read such a negative report regarding Discovery! Someone very dear to my heart begged me for years to attend a training and I always politely declined using finances as an excuse and then she offered to pay for it. How would I say no? How would talk my way out of going? Well I couldn't. God knew it was my time to go so I went. It is the best decision I have ever made!!! I am so in love with this program! I plan to become a TA "funeral dircetor" as soon as I have completed the training. I have had what seemed to be one string of bad luck after another when reality was they were due to the choices I was making. They were due to what I felt was my self worth. I did not value myself and had a ton of guilt for the choices I had made. Just because I made ugly choices does not make me an ugly person! I left Discovery 1 feeling so refreshed. Day 1 and half way through Day 2 I wanted to bee line for the door!! But I stuck it out and so glad I did. My relationships with the people close to my heart changed instantly! My children see their mom happy and at peace. I was about to walk away from one of the best relationships and it drew us closer and stronger. I am at such peace with myself and smile non stop!

I am in total disagreement with whoever posted above regarding Discovery-training in Dallas, TX and I could get 100's of others to say the same. I went through the training in March 2010 along with my husband, adult son, and daughter at the suggestion of a dear friend. Also several of my friends have gone through either before or after my family and all have had life-changing results. Something we all had in common is we have teachable (not gullable) spirits and a desire to grow. And although it is not affiliated with any religion we are Christian and found nothing that would go against Christian principles in any way, shape or form. I want to reply to several comments made:
"...where people are told what to think, how to act, what to do..." First, NO ONE is told what to think..EVER. Everyone is given directions and guidelines so that everyone is respectful of others. There are people there who are broken, abused, and have been hurt badly or have been abusers themselves. There are people who have no regard for rules, protocal, or even have simple manners. There are people there who don't trust anyone or who don't have respect for anyone. There are also people there who just want to grow. It has to be a safe place for everyone. Therefore the first thing they do is go over rules and guidelines and you are given the opportunity to commit or not commit to keeping them. You are also free to leave any time you wish.
"Paul-bearers:" AKA people in suits.
"...have to beg to go to the restroom." NO ONE ever has to beg to go to the bathroom. But just like in a classroom situation it is distracting, and it's also many times unnecessary and an excuse to do something else. No one has to beg...ever.
The format of the program was developed a long time ago by extremely reputable psyschologists including Dr. Phil (before it became Discovery) and there is a reason for everything that happens (none of which was depicted accurately by the author above.) The goal of Discovery is to allow each person to "Discover" for themselves what's been holding them back from living the life they've dreamed and then help each person figure out how to deal with things that get in the way, and then find their mission...what they're here for beyond themselves.
The person who authored this complaint obviously found no value in the program but to completely discredit it and using fowl language speaks loudly of at least a couple of their own issues.
Our family and a few of our friends who went through the training believed in the training so much that we have gone back to volunteer and spent money to see to it that others receive the same gift we received. Everyone deserves to go and what an awesome world we would live in if everyone took the time and opportunity to work on themselves then give back.
And lastly, the people who work for and volunteer at Discovery have a couple of things in common...they have a heart for helping people, they want everyone to experience life to the fullest and emotional health, and are willing to sacrifice their time and energy to do it for free. I'm truly sorry this person couldn't find the value in it and felt so compelled to discredit it. The training has so much to offer. Don't take my word for it...or theirs. Try it for yourself. discovery-training.com

Ok so whoever sent you to Discovery Training is at fault not the program itself. The program has helped hundreds of people get out anger, sadness, fear and many other feelings in one weekend instead of years of therapy. Is it harsh? yes. Is it in your face? Yes. Again the program may not be everyones cup of tea but you making these allegations that it is a ripoff is not warrented. I can testify that it helped me let go of a horrible past. I can tell you I have had friends that went and said they were able to let go of so much Baggage they carried for years. I have also had friends that said it just wasn't for them BUT they didn't slander the name of the program because the program isn't the problem - some people match to it and other don't.
I pray you do not hold Discovery Training accountiable for your experience becasue as I've said it has helped so many broken and lost people.
Gods Blessings be upon you!
