I use dish network service over 18 months. I called the company last year in August to downgrade my service, and remove international channels (29.99 per moth plus taxes) as I dont watch them. They charge me automatically and i chose to go paperless. I called in may 2009 to check why I am still paying a bill over 100 a month. They said that I have the international package, which supposed to be removed 9 months ago.

I asked them to waive charges since August as I did give a specific call to remove the international package, and I did not watch any international channel since then. They said that they cannot remove any charge because there is no any note that I decided to remove the package. I asked them to check if I watched the programs. They said that they don't have an ability to check it and I have to pay. They claim that it is my fault because I have to check my bills.

I said I check the bills in may and I realized that they still charged for what I decided to remove long time ago. As my specific purpose of my call in August 2008 was to downgrade the service, especially the international channels, and they did not remove it, I am strongly convinced that they do it for purpose for many customers. They are in the win-win situation as they always can claim that there is no any note and they apologize, while they are not willing to reimburse you for the time from the first call requesting the downgrading the service and the second call, after you discover that they in fact did nothing and continue charge you.

My case is special because I am too busy to check details of utility bills, if they are below 150 dollars, but do I have to? if so how often I should check? if I have to keep checking whether the company is reaping you off it means that it is better not to do business with the company. So customers have to be aware of the action of the company. I am sure they do it on purpose, as if the company lest say "forget" to remove 30 dollars from you bill and in fact will do it after the second request, they can make a lot of money, for instance based on 10 million customers, per 30 dollars they can make 30 million only because of such action. This is simply a wrongdoing behavior and I am curious how many customers are affected by such practices.

For real the companies should be accountable for what they say they will charge you for a service

I agree with you,i don't have time to sit down each month to see what my bills are for. They should be for what you ask them for and nothing more. I hadn't been checking my bills,I'd just write a check for a bill when i got one only once a month and i caught att charging me for something about music and games and my cell bill i dont have time to play games and download music. I dont know how long i had been paying for this crap but when i found it i called them took 45 minutes on the phone to get it taken off and the idiots i guess just wanted one more month of the charges because it was on the next bill also.Well who's the idiot needless to say i have my PA go over all my bills before i even get them now.

why wouldnt check your bills monthly....it is each individuals responsibility...all companies not only dish can make a mistake which is why you get a detailed bill each month of the charges and like most companies there is a time frame to dispute the charges so in this case it would be the cusomers fault for not keeping up with there own records...if u had u wouldve caught this in septenber and not 9 mnths later
