I wanted to get the international channel - they signed me up and made me commit you to a 2 year contract.  I got the package that comes with freebees for three months and Free DVR service.

They told me that it will only $30 a month including DVR and everything if I do a direct credit card debit.

THe tech guy showed up with no DVR, I called to see why i did not get the DVR, they said that it cost $6 extra a month.  SO I told them I did not want it, it was free, they told me that they would send me the DVR for free but I have to pay the extra cost.

If I cancel they would charge me 420 early cancellation fee.  THe $6 dollars is a lot more to pay a month so I thought about it and 3 months went by and I decided to just cough up the money.  I called to get the DVR and now they want me to pay an extra $100.00 just for getting the box on top of the $6 a month.  I asked for a manager, told me the same, asked for someone else, the customer service professional - professionally yelled at me and then hung up the phone on me.

What a bunch of thiefs - this is a scam, i dont know how this is legal and how they stay in business.  Then again I do know - they rip you off for over $400 dollars when you catch them being crappy, disrespectful and deceitful.

I am so angry at myself for even signing up with and getting up in this scheme.

If there is something that can be done I am all for it - they deserve to be out of business for this type of robbery.

Kaia Hi,


All I want is what was promised to me from the begining and that is the free HD DVR box.  I am willing to pay the extra $6 even though I was not told about it when I agreed to the service.

Please let me know what the next steps are

of DISH Network. I read through your post and I would like to apologize for the
poor customer experience that you have had with DISH. I would like to provide
you with some additional information regarding the DVR and our promotions.

Throughout the year, we offer different promotions for new customers signing up
with DISH Network. Upon qualification, we offer a discounted or free leased DVR
receiver to new customers; the normal price for receivers can range from $149
to $449. Any time that there is a DVR on the account, whether it be leased or
purchased, there is a $6 charge for the DVR which gives you the features of
recording, rewinding, pausing tv etc.

If the issue has not been resolved or you would like further assistance, please respond to this so that we may take the next step in assisting you.
