Over three weeks ago the Columbia Tennessee Wal Mart automotive store installed a defective oil filter that resulted in the oil draining from my daughter car resulting in her car engine to cease, locking up.

After three weeks we have not been offered even a rental car. I have taked with the senior adjuster at Claims Management Service who says that Wal Mart is not responsible since it was a bad filter. I did try to contact The CEO of Wal Mart and was told that once a claim has been filed Wal-mart, they will not have their customer relation office talk with a customer. I have retained William Barns Esq. of Columbia Tn. to handle this claim.

Columbia Tennessee Wal-Mart Automotive causes oil leak that ceased engine. *REBUTTAL *EDitor's Comments (#5717) They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: S.Jones Their phone number: 281-398-5555 Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion Rebuttal: I had the same thing happen to me, only it was the oil cap never being put back on by the young man who obviously wasn't trained very well. The manager was defensive about it right from the start. He really didn't want to bother with me and was just disrespectful. All I wanted was three bucks to de-grease it down at the car wash and a "Man, I am sorry about that . . ." I got nothing. And I'm just a quiet spoken farmer here in Texas, I didn't spitter and spout. It didn't rile me up that much. However, I never returned to Wal Mart after that for an oil change and generally never go their anyways because their stores are not very clean and I speacilize when I shop; ACE Hardware for hardware, HEB for Groceries, Target for men's clothing ect. Too, Good oil change places are really very hard to find. So I pay a little more at a particular place that does good work, although he's really busy on weekends. Sam Walton would be crying tears of shame if he saw what had become of his company and how his company behaves. What is the point of a corperation when it no longer serves the interests of people around it or that are a part of it? Too, Sam's brother Bud is gone, Bill Fields (#3) left soon after and so on and so on. I met Sam Walton in 1982 at a store opening and I've read both his autobiographies. Just don't shop there and tell every one why. Spread the word. You pay a little extra for quality. You don't want a bargin price on knee surgery, so don't intrust your car or important things to barga-rama like places. One final thought: I don't get too angry about what happened because my son Apostole had the pleasure of repossessing the living room furniture, kitchen set, and television of the manager of the store about eight months later (while he worked for ACE Rental)when this manager rather quickly left his job under unusual circumstances. Well, it's a small town. Remember, It's your money and you can spend it, or not spend it, where you want.

I'm sorry, but I can't see where Wal-Mart is at fault. *EDitor's Comments to the REBUTTAL

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion

Rebuttal:
Dr,

I'm sorry, but I can't see where Wal-Mart is at fault. You seem like someone who is strictly out for money. Who told you the filter was the cause? Probably another garage who hates Wal-Mart because they are cheap.

You already have an attorney, which tells em you are out for a money grab.

This page should be for intentional ripoff's. Not whiney customers who think they've won a lottery because they imagine they can pin something on a big company.

You are just a greedy pig, not a victim.

EDitor's Comment to the above REBUTTAL :::::

Just because someone hires a lawyer to fight Wal-Mart they are just out for money?
Who is going to pay for the damages to the victims car? The victim has been inconvenienced and most likely has expenses because of Wal-Marts stupidity.

Wal-Mart either put a defective filter on the car, or they did not put the filter on properly.

The victim here does not need a lawyer. In most cases like this, if you take them to small claims court, most likely, they will not show up to court and you will get a judgment by default against Wal-Mart. It will cost Wal-Mart more to send a lawyer to court. After you serve them, they would most likely settle with the victim.
