I bought my car from Drivetime Auto Sales on Camp Wisdom Rd in Dallas, Texas in July 2003. The very first week,I ended up stranded at a gas station on the other side of town because my car would not crank up. I couldnt even get my power windows and locks to work.

When I managed to get it back up to the dealership, the service manager informed me that I had left the dome light on and it sucked all the "juice" out of the battery. What? I had been in that car and I knew that that was a lie and no light had been left on inside or outside my car, but I let it go.

Not 2 weeks later, I was driving the car and a check engine light came on, along with some other light that I couldnt figure out because the car came with no owner's manual. The car was also having issues that made it stall, and then all of a sudden take off, ( I'm afraid I might rear-end someone one day) so I took the car up to drivetime, since I still had time under my limited warranty to repair any engine problems, and was told that I needed a gasket and it needed to be ordered. That was over a month ago. I have not received one call back from the service department to tell me that the part came in. Needless to say, my warranty is no longer and I have to deal with it, I guess.

Recently, I called up the dealership to ask for a payoff amount on my car, that is after i looked up the Kelly Blue Book value, and found that it's $13,000- for a 1999 Mazda 626 with 90,000 miles. What?

I realize that they prey on single women, and people with issues because they can. I explained my situation to the salesperson at the dealership, I had been out of work and had a lot of issues since the birth of my child, and yet she still sold me that car, knowing it would only compound my problems. I have to pay over $400 per month for that hunk of junk, and I know in my heart it won't be around much longer.

Please, whatever you do, dont buy a car from Drivetime. They are crooks. They dont care about you. They have junk cars, and they charge outrageous interest-at least 20%. I am just trying to figure out how to get rid of them once and for all. I am just hoping my story will spare you the drama I have experienced ( and I havent even told you everything!).

**P.S. They dont have a grace period for your car note. They will call you and threaten to take your car away if you are a day late. They want prompt payment for these cars, yet they wont deliver prompt, professional service. Anyone with some legal experience who can tell me what to do to make them pay, please let me know. I have a feeling that soon, I will have to be riding the bus to work.
