I bought a car from Drivetime after my car was totalled. As soon as I drove it off the lot the brakes felt funny. I went back and they ensured me the brakes were just done and inspected and there was nothing wrong with them. I was going out of state the next day. When I got to my destination that was 750 miles away not only were my brakes squealing but they were grinding as well. I called the warranty number and they gave me a hard time about covering the repair. They eventually covered it after fighting with them considering I had only had the car for 2 days. Next issue 6 months after having the car the engine went in it. Again called the warranty company and took it to one of their approved shops. When the car was being diagnosed the mechanic found that not only did the engine blow but the transmission was leaking. The leak was coming from the casing where they meet in the middle. They said that by the amount of fluid leaking and what they cleaned off that the transmission was leaking since before I bought it. The transmission was a rebuilt transmission. It has a slow leak. The leak could not be fixed without changing the whole transmission due to where it was leaking from. The warranty company covered the engine but refused the transmission! Their basis for the refusal was because there is a silicon seal where it is leaking and they don't cover the seal. So my transmission is slowly dying and I have to keep adding fluid. Now I have had the car a year exactly and it is broken down once again. This time I believe it's the alternator. Everytime I turn around something else breaks on this car. I keep up on maintenance on it . i have never bought a car that has given me this much problems. My car is going to cost me double what I am paying for it and is not going to last the extent of my loan without changing the transmission(out of my own pocket) which I can't afford.
