I purchased a vehicle from Drivetine in October of 2013. The car was a 2004 Acura TL with 92000 miles on it. I had to put 1800 dollars on this car. The check engine light came on two days later which was caused by a catalytic converter. Which was NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR WARRANTY. It is now 2016 and these people are still saying that I owe almost 20000 dollars on this car. This is ridiculous. I will admit that there were some late payments, but to still owe 20000 dollars on a 2004 is OUTRAGEOUS!!! I would not advise this company for ANYONE!!!!!! PLEASE BEWARE!!!! I am thinking of ways to boycott the company because it seems as if they are growing!!!!!! Please do NO BUY FROM DRIVETIME!!! It is the worst mistake EVER!!!!!!! I've paid over 14000 dollars into a 2004 Acura TL and I'm still OWING almost 20000 dollars!!!!!! Whatever you do, DO NOT PURCHASE FROM DRIVETIME! I repeat, DRIVETIME!!!!!

Typical Sub-Prime mentality..

By you posting this "RipOff" you have proven why you are with a Sub-Prime lender and probably will be with ones like this forever.  Because YOU do not understand how to handle credit and the ramifications when you do not show responsibility.

First off you failed to list some very important details about your loan.  Such as how much did you originally borrow, how much is your monthly payment, what is your interest rate, and how many years is the loan for.  Now, even though you didn't post it I can pretty much guarantee a few things because you do not have a proven history of being able to handle credit it was probably a very high interest loan(over 10%).  Also, to get the payments down to what you could "afford" it is probably a long term loan(I would venture a guess at it being at least 5 years).

Yes, all of this matters because why you don't seem to think that a late payment is that big of a deal.  Depending on how late, and when in the loan you had it the additional interest and late fees of a single 30 day late payment could wipe out the principal you would pay down in 2 or 3 payments.  If you had multiple late payments or even a reposession you could actually see your balance increase.  So just how many late payments did you end up having, and how late were you?

There is NOTHING deceitful about this as this was all disclosed to you when you signed the loan documents.  Now, whether or not you read and understood what you were signing is another matter.  But the fact is they were discosed to you.

As for the balance, again with just about every car loan the way it works is you always pay more in interest at the beginning of the loan than you do at the end.   So again not deceitful..just a lack of understanding on your part.

As for the warranty, you purchased a 9 year old car with 92K miles on it.  If the only major item you have had to have done to it is a cat converter consider yourself lucky.   Otherwise for a car of that age, having $1000-$2000/year in maintenence and repairs is not out of the ordinary.

Oh and before you go down that road, no the reason you were late does not matter.  And no I do not now or have I ever worked for this or any other dealer.
