Dry Dock Boat Sales Marine Center boatinglakemead.com Grossly misrepresented year of boat motor and attempted to grab my receipt. Las Vegas NV/Clark County
These people are extremely shady. They fraudulently sell older motors/parts claiming they are newer than they really are. grossly misrepresent the merchandise they are selling. They deceived me into buying a much older motor than what they claimed it was. Over the phone, Dry Dock Boat Sales told they had a 2018 motor.
When I arrived, they said the motor was actually a 2016. Bait and switch. When I went to pick up the motor at their service center, the shaft sticker claims it is a 2014, the motor sticker states it is a 2012. They just sold me a motor claiming it was a 2016 – my receipt clearly states it is a 2016. At least a 4+ year difference than what they fraudulently claimed on the receipt. I picked up my receipt and told her I was leaving. Candice then tried to forcefully take my receipt from me.
She and her father (owner) blocked my exit, followed me into the parking lot demanding that I give them my receipt. I have no legal obligation to give them my receipt. The boat was paid in full over a week ago. When I got home, I was concerned this motor may be stolen. I noticed that the serial plate was not in the standard location for Mercury motors, shaft did not match the motor and is a different length than what they told me.
I ordered a 15” ss and that is what my receipt says. However, the actual shaft is 18” which is not even a Mercury -they make 15, 20, 25. Alarmed, I contacted a Mercury specialist and looked up the serial number on the motor, it came back to a 2006! both the serial number and model number indicate the motor is not possibly newer than a 2012 and is likely a 2006.
Dry Dock Boat Sales deliberately falsified the serial plate and misled me into thinking I was purchasing a much newer motor; when in fact, the motor is old and pieced together on an aftermarket shaft. I now have a motor that I can’t even use because the shaft is too long for my boat and it is 10+ years older that what they said. Beware!
Based on the behavior and statement of the Dry Dock Boat Sales management, I believe they deliberately falsified the serial plate and purposely misled me into thinking I was purchasing a much newer motor/short shaft model; when in fact, the motor is old and was clearly tampered with and pieced together on a different aftermarket shaft. Dry Dock even made up a fake sticker claiming the shaft was a 2014! It’s really a 2006 and not a Mercury!
