My elderly parents has a 23 yrs old home. They have lived with leaking plumbing through the wall from the master bath to guest bath for about 9 years. The house is in such a bad shape the wall has moisture, mildew, and foul smell . They've recently saved up enough money for a renovation.
Mr. Tyree was the only contractor who showed up through Craigs List. At the first appt, he came with other guy who sat in the car with the engine running. He told us he has 18 yrs of experience, and has adequate property insurance, liability insurance, TRCC contractor license, and a crew of eight. So we have no reason not to believe him, but I told him I would need copies of documentation for proof.
Through the weeks, he would call, and I would ask for references, trade references, and work in progress we can see. He claims he has hundreds of references, but was only able to provide 5 phone numbers, with no address or specific work done. I call all 5, but only talk to 2. One was his niece, the other was a Deborah Boeker, who is probably his sister because I ask what she had done. She said rooms, and when I said we are getting bathrooms, and kitchen redone, she would change her story to what I like to hear.
When ask to see Mr. Tyree's portfolio, he states he is in the process of a divorce so his wife has all portfolio, contact no. etc.
On June 13,2007 , Mr. Tyree showed up a minor young male Micheal, who is about 15 yrs old, who he listed as reference (see e-mail) He showed us some samples, and my father signed a contract for $ 15K, with $2000 down payment, and $ 2985 when verbally agreed by both side to start on June 18, 2007 (see exhibit) . He told me he is buying tubs, and parts with the $, and cashes that check minutes after meeting. Over the weekend, my elderly parents worked extra hard to pack up as much as they could.
I called on Sunday, stating he must show up with crew, and a copy of insurance. And early Monday morning, Mr. Tyree June 18, he wanted $ 3000 more; however he didn't show up with crew or insurance. The contract which was written by Mr. Tyree states he must have adequate insurance. He said in the process of moving, they lost a pertinent box that had insurance documents. I ask for the insurance company to fax a copy to me, but that was never done because Mr. Tyree never had insurance, not even auto insurance.
My father reply, without documentation of current insurance, he can't allow Mr. Tyree to start work, the liability would fall on the him. In essence, he breach the contract. He is refusing to refund the $2000 down payment, and claims his lawyer is suing for remaining balance.
Unfortunately, we can no show any documentation of Mr.Tyree, whether that is his legal name or not, or he is a legit contractor or a con. We have reasons to believe that is his real name since he cashed the check as so. Besides this, we have his address as 806 Courtenay Place Garland , TX 75040 and cell phone ( 972) 891-2085. He could be a con artist, falsify statements going around cheating elderly. He never responds to written correspondence, so I have no way to reach him.
We would like to seek justice through RipOff Report. You are our only hope. Since Mr. Tyree breach the contract, and no service is rendered what so ever. (my parents house is still in the same condition), he should do the right thing, refund the down payment. We can not use him, and no one should use him. He has misrepresent himself as a TRCC contractor with adequate insurance, and crew, and fraud my elderly parents of $ 2000. Money that is desperately needed to repair their home.

You are such a joke. Why are you hiding behind rip off report. When you decide to grow up, why dont you give me a call..
Your life is so pathetic you want to make other peoples life miserable. You want to put my families livelyhood at risk.
So what, I have a past, just like everyone else. I have grown up and changed my life and am very active in the christian community. Sorry if i wasnt born with a silver spoon in hand. Just for the record, I was using drugs at age 15 as well. I have looked back on the life I had, and no, its not a pretty trail. I have lived and learned. Why dont you try and do the same.
If all this is true, why have I never been contacted by these so called investigators. There will be charges filed against you for slandering me and my family.
And yes, I do live in a manufactured home, and I guarantee you its nicer than your house. you know why? I AM VERY GOOD AT WHAT I DO !!! Oh ya, I also have a large list of very happy clients!!

If you are one of the many victims of Mr. Tyree's unprofessional business practices. I am sure he would like to make things right with you. He currently resides at 4000 Ace Lane #230 Lewisville, TX. Its a trailer park (Imagine that). And I did a little research and found out that indeed he does have quite a long tarnished record with Law Enforcement. Including DUI, Drivers License revoked, Domestic Violence and Spousal abuse, to name a few. He also has a history of Alcohol abuse and severe anger. Just the kind of guy you want to pay up front and then invite into your home to do "professional work", right? I hope this is helful to those who have been taken advantage of. He is currently posing under the business name D.R. Remodeling.
I would caution anyone considering doing any kind of business with this man. Obviously you should never pay any so called business contractor up front, if they can't promptly provide you with reputable referrences and proper insurance.

Where to begin? Let's see, I arrived at the house and did receive $2000.00 when it was suppose to be much more. They were to pay 1/3 down to begin the job. When i had come out to begin the job and get the remaining balance of the down payment I was given a check with insufficient funds. At that time i called my crew and advised them not to show up. As far as the crew thing goes, I dont know anyone who is going to pay thier crew to be present while doing a bid on a job. I aquire my insurance per the job cost. When i get my money down i then pay for the insurance for the cost of the job and the number of employees on the job. I had no other work scheduled for three weeks so i was out the money for that period of time. At that time I advised them they would not receive the money back. They had a change of heart and asked me to go on with the job and when i told them they were to pay the remaining balance of the down payment they refused once again. Contractors dont trust home owners, Home owners dont trust contractors. They breached the contract by not reaching the agreemant for the payments. Would you do a job when you get a check from an account with no funds in it?

I also was scammed by him. He has 9 criminal charges in dallas county alone, and 2 in denton county. How can we get him? Through lawsuit- criminal court, you think? Does anyone know if he is still in town, which address and phone number? And how many people, and who are involved, how much damages are involved. The only way we can catch this guy is to colaborate in unity to catch this S>O>B. Who has worked up the most on him? I suggest going to the FBI. If someone will come forth with more pertinent information, please ?

Mr. Duane Alllen Tyree, born 2-19-70 is a con artist and has done this to numerous people before. He gets a contract signed, promises to provide insurance, crews and other things only to not show up at job time. He always gets a down payment and then never returns. There have been previous lawsuits filed against him. I have names, numbers and plenty of others that he has done this to. He does not have a drivers license and has no vehicle. He is not insured and does not have a contractors license. It's just him, his girldfriend's 15 year old son Michael and whatever druggie he can find on the street for day labor. This guy is smoothe and charming and will win most people over with his looks and "big talk". He is basically an alcoholic who scams to get money from people and then walks away free. He needs to be stopped and to be made accountable for the people he has ripped off and hurt. He is not in the middle of a divorce - his wife left and divorced him a long time ago because he beats women when he drinks and was convicted in Denton County for the charges. Look him up... it's all there on their public website. She left because he would never hold down a decent job and did people this way and now he is claiming to be in the middle of a divorce.
