Duquesne Light shut off my power without prior notification. Upon reenergizing the circuit there was a power surge which destroyed sensitive electronic equipment. DLC admitted shutting the power off but stated they did not cause a surge and denied the claim. A complaint was filed against them in arbitration court.

Upon appearing in court, I was told the case file was not there "for some unknown reason" and it had to be retrieved. In court, there only defense was that they didn't cause the damage. Their own witness would not even testify the way DLC's lawyer wanted him to testify. Lost the case on 3-0 decision. I knew when the file had to be retrieved and the decision came down 3-0 that the case had been fixed by the greasy law firm DLC keeps on retainer. It was comical. Their attorney did nothing but shoot herself in the foot asking questions that she did not already know the answer to. My only regret was that I did not hire a stenographer to record a transcript. Total farce and a miscarriage of justice. But DLC's business model is predicated on denying their customers claims for damages. DLC's own website even advises customers to unplug their electronic equipment before power is restored which I pointed out to them in court. Go figure.
