After researching numerous mowers in summer 2007 I decided to take the plunge and spend the extra money on a John Deere EZTrak zero turn mower. After tax was just a few cents shy of 5 grand. At 80 hours I installed some John Deere (bought from the dealer) Multching Blades. The deck began to shake and vibrate so I called the dealer where I bought the mower. The service tech suggested that it was probably just a spindle and that the warranty would cover it so bring it in. A week later I called and they said it was ready and indeed it was a spindle. ONE spindle is what I was understanding he said...plus they replaced the belt and tension pulley. 2 weeks later I receive a bill from East Coast Equipment saying I owed them 598.53. There was no break down on the bill...all it said was "workshop invoice". I called and the same service tech that told me everything was covered told me that they had later determined that the spindle must have hit something and therefore was not covered under the warranty. They never called me before they did the work...they did it...told everything was fine then changed their mind. I am going to try and work this out with John Deere...if they will not help then I am going to take a chance on small claims court. It won't cost me anything to be there...and someone from John Deere will have to take a day off and come sit in court all day with me.
